He had been a painting instructor at the Great Onyx Job Corps Center in Mammoth Cave for 10 years and was a member of the Kenwood United Methodist Church. Cowsert 57, West Point, died at 6 a.m. Monday at his home. He was a native of Dexter, and a retired mechanic. Survivors include his wife, the former Pearl Pitcher; three sons, Jimmy Cowsert of Anna, Charles L. Jr.

and Bill Cowsert; three daughters, Mrs. Judy Dipietro of Radcliff, Mrs. Linda Claycomb and Alice Cowsert; and 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at W.

G. Hardy Valley Funeral Home, 10907 Dixie Highway, with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday. John Ernest Defler, 72, of 96 Stockdale Road, died at 6:30 a.m.

Monday at Wesley Manor Nursing Home. He was a native of Brooks and a retired grinder at International Harvester Co. and a retired driver at Greater Louisville Funeral Limousine Association. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ada Eversole and Miss Patricia Raymond; a son, Ernest L.

Defler of Columbus, four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 Wednesday at McDaniel Funeral Home, 4339 Park with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Louis I. Ditzenbach, 87, Mount Holly Nursing Home, died there at 8:18 a.m.

Monday. She was the former Julia Crumbaugh, a native of Shelby County, a member of the Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian 'Church and a former member of Crescent Hill Woman's Club. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday. Mrs. Christine Elvin Frehse, 69, of 3731 Essex Road, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Baptist Hospital East. She was a retired sales clerk at Byck's, where she worked 12 years.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Frehse; a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Vanderhoff; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St.

James Catholic Church, 1826 Edenside with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. James Catholic Church. Mrs. Evelyn Luetzel Gebhardt, 70, of 104 Claremont died at 5:30 p.m.

She was the former Ruth Frank, a native of Garfield, a retired cost clerk at the old state Highway Department and a member of the Buechel United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 448. Retha Jones Hambaugh, 59, of 2125 Belquin Road, died at 2:20 a.m. Monday at her home. She was a native of Hardin County, a retired employee at J. V. Reed where she worked 27 years, and a member of the Liberty Temple.

Survivors include her husband, Leo W. Hambaugh. w. The funeral will Ratterman's, be at 10 2114 Wednesday at Market with burial in Eastern Cemetery. Mrs.

John T. Higgins, 2442 Tyler Lane, died at 2:05 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony Hospital. She was the former Mary R.

Powell and a member of the Highland Woman's Club and Columbia Ladies Club. Survivors include two sons, John T. Jr. and David W. Higgins, and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at Ratterman's, 3800 Bardstown Road, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday. Marguerite Jenkins, 84, of 105 Colonial Drive, died Sunday in Big Clifty. She was a retired nurse. Survivors include four brothers, Thomas Orrin Ben and John S. Jenkins, and a sister, Mrs.

Frank B. McCarty. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery, The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Gideon International. Mrs. Mable Clay Lloyd, 56, of 728 Cecil died at 11 p.m. Sunday at Jewish Hospital. She was the former Mable Caldwell and a retired nurse.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Diane C. Hood. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Broadway Temple AME Zion Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be after noon Tuesday. William J. O'Mara, 67, of 2018 Lowell died at 7:15 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Infirmary.

He was retired assistant city tax collector and former safety director at the U.S. Postal Service in Louisville. Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Jull; four sons, William C. O'Mara of Palo Alto, John L. O'Mara of New York City, Kevin O'Mara of Simpsonville and Patrick Mara; a daughter, Mrs.

George Richard Tyler, 27, of 505: S. 19th died Friday at his home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputy Coroner Robert M. Adams said the death apparently was a suicide. was an employee of the Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Department.

Survivors include a dayghter, Shannon Tyler, and his mother, Mrs. Georgia Tyler. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at G. C.

Williams Mortuary, 1935 W. Broadway, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Harland Vincent, 71, of 9211. James Hill Road, died Sunday at a hospital in Branson, Mo. He was a native of Edmonson County and retired in 1971 as a woodworker at Gamble Brothers Inc.
