7th Heaven "Cutlers" (cc) Hyperion Bay 'Static" (cc) News(cc) iMacGyverThe Prodigaf ln the Heat of the Night (cc) 11:30 a.m. Kevan Ramer, a former WLKY meteorologist, will do weather-casts for the programs. The 7-9 a.m. slot will feature co-hosts Stew Olesen, who did a morning show in Sacramento, and Elizabeth Woolsey, who was a morning anchor on a Fayetteville, station. The 6 and 11:30 a.m.

newscasts will be straight newscasts, not rehashes of the "News at 10" from the night before. "I've issued orders not to repeat anything from the night before," said Hal Stopfel, WDRB news director. The exception will be big stories. Other stations have just pressed regular staffers into doing extra duty to put on their morning shows, Stopfel said. Channel 41 is backing its morning programs with 22 new todies.

Olesen and Woolsey appeared relaxed and enthusiastic on a preview rehearsal tape, and the show moved along smoothly. It's a lot like "Today" and the early local programs other stations do. The question will be whether "Fox in the Morning," with its emphasis on local stories and people, can get people to tune away from "Today" or ''Good Morning America." Communicating with viewers will be a key element, carried out through an on-set fax, by phone and eventually over the Internet with a chat room connected to the show. The 7-9 a.m. section will also field regular features, including Courier-Journal food editor Sarah Fritschner and exercise physiologist Bryant Stamford with fitness reports.

Jeneen Wiche, daughter of the late "Weekend Gardener" Fred Wiche, will do gardening tips. Bill Francis will keep track of local business, and Dr. Dean Edell will contribute health stories. Moving pains WFPL and WFPK are fine-tuning the installation of new transmitters in the knobs area of Southern Indiana, which has resulted in various bugs in the reception. The problems should be fixed by now, but WFPL program director John Gregory says listeners may have to move their antennas or reposition their radios a little bit to get the best signal.

Louisville roots "Guys Like Us," which has its debut at 8 tonight on UPN, co-stars Chris Hardwick, a Louisville native and former co-host of MTV's "Singled Out." "I have vivid memories of Louisville, especially during tornado season, running for the basement," Hardwick said in an interview from Los Angeles, where he also is a radio disc jockey. His family left Louisville when he was just 6, but he comes back for the Derby on occasion. Bumper Robinson co-stars with Hardwick in the sitcom about Sean and Jared, two roommates who just happen to be black and white. One is serious, the other a slob. "The racial issue is never even mentioned," Hardwick said.

Much of the show centers around Jared's 6-year-old brother (Maestro Harrell), who comes to live with the guys and steals every scene. The humor is predictable, but it's nice to see a sitcom with an interracial cast that isn't about race. White House series UPN has yanked the opening episode of "The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer" tonight at 9. The second, unpreviewed chapter is being aired instead because protest groups thought the first episode made a joke of slavery. It did.

The Civil War-era sitcom makes fun of just about everything at one time or another because it's like a "Saturday Night Live" skit. This is a thinly veiled spoof of Bill Clinton featuring a befuddled Abe Lincoln and his servant. The producers say it's Monty Python for the '90s, but the often bawdy parody isn't Ml that funny or shocking. Subway police I "DiResta" at 8:30 tonight on UPN is another blue-collar family sitcom like CBS's "King of Queens." It stars $tand-up comic John DiResta, who was once a New York City transit police officer, a role he also plays on he show. The roly-poly, teddy-bear type is married with two kids.

The Jiumor is pretty trite and bland. InterMedia local 8 carries WYCS programming 6 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays.
