a a a a a a 1997 THE COURIER JOURNAL CRIME DEATHS SATURDAY, MARCH 29, LOUISVILLE AREA DEATHS Man, 20, shot to death; police charge 18-year-old The Courier-Journal Louisville police arrested an 18- year-old man and charged him with murder yesterday in the early morning shooting, death of a 20-year-old. of the 600 block of South Street, was being held in the Jefferson County Jail. The victim's identity was not released last night. Officer Aaron Graham, Louisville police spokesman, said officers were called to 3804 Broadway about 12:30 a.m. by Delashelle Bond, 20, who lived at the house and is a cousin of the victim.

Bond told officers that she had heard a single shot and that her cousin then walked into the house and collapsed on the kitchen floor, Graham said. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where he died. Graham said Manns and the victim knew each other and had an argument just before the shooting, but Graham said he did not know what the argument was about. Man pleads innocent to murder in hit-run case The Courier-Journal Samuel S. Searcy pleaded innocent yesterday to murder and other charges stemming from the Feb.

7 hitand-run accident in which 9-year-old Eric Kinser was killed. At the arraignment, bond was set at 10 percent of $100,000. Searcy, 36, was placed on home incarceration until trial or until he posts bond. Eric, a third-grader at Bowen Elementary School, was walking off the side of Westport Road with several friends when he was hit by a pickup truck that didn't stop. He died the next morning.

Searcy, of Pewee Valley, came forward a few days later and said through. his lawyer that he was involved. Survivors: a sister, Carol Phillips; a brother, Joseph Hanson; her grandmother, Ann Perry; and her Bill Ward.

Olivia Louise Parrish, 88, died Friday at Lyndon Lane Nursing Center. She was the former Olivia Borntraeger, a retired employee of Bank of Louisville, a volunteer for the old St. Joseph Infirmary and Columbia Audubon Hospital and former treasurer of Spastic Guild of Louisville. Survivor: a sister-in-law, Vera G. Borntraeger, who cared for her.

Ormsby died Thursday at Park- way Medical Center. He was a native of Catlettsburg, a retired plant engineer for the old American Tobacco an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Harrods Creek Masonic Lodge 456, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Order of the Amaranth and Order of Eastern Star. Janet Ross, 59, died Thursday at Alliant Medical Pavilion. She was the former Janet Tinnell, a native of Bullitt County and a Baptist. Burial: Vine Hill, Clermont. Visitation: after 10 a.m. Saturday. William W. Roth, 69, of Rowan Street, died Friday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was a retired truck driver, a Navy veteran of World War II and a Catholic. Survivors: a daughter, Mary Blacklock; sons Lawrence, Michael, David and Mark Roth; sisters Laverne Wright, Hattie McCabe, Jeannie Partee and Mildred Hellton; a brother, Charles Roth; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Naomi K. Scott, 91, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Center. She was the former Naomi Poyser, a native of Peru, and a retired secretary for Klempner Bros. where she worked 27 years. She was the former owner of the old Lakeview Kennels, a prize-winning breeder of Chow dogs and a member of Louisville Kennel Club.

Survivors: a nephew and his wife, Dr. Stephen P. Poyser Carolyn Phelps, and friends Thelma Carney and Dee Byers, all of whom cared for her. There will be no funeral or visitation. Arrangements: Arch L.
