Monln, 88, formerly of Hardin County, died Tuesday in Dearborn, Mich. Funeral, 2 p.m. Saturday, of opera soprano Grace Moore, who became her mentor. Moore sent her to study with Astolio Pescia in Rome. In 1940, she made her debut as Pousette in "Manon" with the Chicago Opera.

In 1945 came her Metropolitan debut. Thursday. Barbounllle man hit by car in Flat Lick From Staff and Special Dispatches FLAT LICK, Ky. A 72-year-old Barbourville man died Tuesday after he was hit by a car as he crossed U. S. 25E in Flat Lick.

Jim E. Doolin's car had broken down and he was trying to cross the road at 6:28 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by Gail Hale, 32, of Flat Lick, state police in Harlan said. Doolin was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m., police said. Hale was treated for chest injuries at Knox County General Hospital and released.

Doolin was a retired coal miner. His survivors include two sons, Robert Doolin of London and Kenneth Doolin of Barbourville; two daughters, Brenda Merida and Linda Glass, both of Goshen, Ohio; two brothers, Herman Doolin of Hei-drick and Reed Doolin of Bowling Green; a sister, Charity Cox of Little Rock, seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Hampton Funeral Home in Barbourville, with burial in Ham-mons Cemetery in Girdler. Visitation at the funeral home is after 1 p.m.

dies From Staff and Special Dispatches COVINGTON, Ky. The Most Rev. Richard Henry Ackerman, retired bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington, died yesterday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was 89.

Ackerman was appointed bishop of Covington in 1960 and served until his retirement in 1979. He entered the Holy Ghost Fathers in 1922 and was ordained a priest Aug. 28, 1926. Ackerman, a native of Pittsburgh, was ordained Ackerman and vice president of its superior council in 1947. Ackerman had served as novice master in the Holy Ghost Novitiate, and he served at churches and schools in Pittsburgh; Ridgefield and Norwalk, and Detroit.

His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell. Visitation at the church is from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m.

Staff and Special Dispatches SOMERSET, Ky. Dr. Robert N. McLeod a Somerset pediatrician, died Tuesday at his home after extended illness. He was 71.

McLeod came to Somerset in 1949 from Boston Children's Hospital. He practiced in Somerset for more than 0 years. McLeod also served as the team physician for the Somerset and Pulaski County high school football teams for 27 years, i McLeod was a native of Andalusia, and a member First Pres 1978 PHOTO an auxiliary bishop there on May 22, 1956, and was installed as first auxiliary bishop of San Diego the following day. He was appointed national director of the Holy Childhood in 1941 JO.
