Leonard Smiley, Shelly and Jeff of Victoria; their son and family, Dr. Glen Blake, Rebecca, and Kelly of Houston. Also Jeff Leja came with the Wilsons from Wisconsin. They all enjoyed the beautiful Texas weather as it was 18 degrees and snowing in Frasier. Mr.

and Mrs. W'ilton Key are the new grandparents of a grandson, Shane Hunter, born Thursday, December 30, to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Key in Odessa, their first child. Mr.

and Mrs. Key went to see them last weekend and Mrs. Key stayed to spend the week. Mr. and Mrs.

Bill Brown of Austin visited Mrs. Damon Wycof Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Jim Bragg and Eulahad as guests for the holidays, Mr. and Mrs.

Miles Bragg, Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Bragg and daughter, Lois Rash, David Tumlinson, Janice and Tammy of Pilot Point; Tonya Mourn of San Antonio; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Berry of Texas City and Mrs.

Delia Tumlinson of Llano. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Crecelius of Llano visited Mr. and Mrs.

Raymond Rogers Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clendennen, Tommy and Lou Ann and Larry Lewis ofNewBraun- fles, and Mrs. J.H.E.

Will man of Llano visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clendennen, for the New Year holidays. The Tow Baptist Church was the place for a New Year's Watch Party. Forty enjoyed the covered dish supper, ixteen stayed for games of forty-two and to see the Old Year out and the New Year in.

Mr. and Mrs. Tolly Gray had Christmas dinner with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gray and children in Kingsland.

Frank Tow, who has been in the Llano hospital came home on Christmas eve and they had as company, their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stack, and Betty Lou of San Antonio, and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Land, Richard and Nena Kay of Irving.

Patranella Showmanship Awards Increased The number of showmanship awards to be presented in the Llano County Junior Livestock Show has been increased by one for the 1971 show over previous years.

Formerly there have been six, one in the fat steer division, one in the beef heifer division, one in the Angora goat division, one in fat lamb division and two in the swine division, presented by Cliff Martin, Robert Hunger, Corner Drug Store, Ben Donop, Buttery Hardware and Whitely Jewelry. This year an award has been added for the turkey division, to given by Mrs. Hattie Sage- blel. Other awards this year will be given by Buttery Hardware, Corner Drug Store, Dr. J.

P. Dodgen, Ben Donop, Cliff Martin, and Whitley Jewelry. The trophy awards are given to the and girls with entries in the show who exhibit the most proficiency in groom- ingk posing and showing their livestock. Winners of the 1971 show trophies were Jamie Edwards in the steer and fat lamb division; Sue Rusche, heifer; Ronnie Amsler, barrows; Gayle Epperson, gilts; and Adele Wright, Angora goats. Mrs.

Franklin Reagor and daughter, Deanne of Tulia visited last week with her grandmother, Mrs. Luke Moss, who was hospitalized following an accident; and also with her mother, Mrs. Ann Etta Hall, and mother-in-law, Mrs. F.C. Reagor.

and of Colorado have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Gayleon Morgan and family and Mrs.

Charlie Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. W.G. McCormick and daughter of Houston have been visiting Mr.

and Mrs. Jay McCormick and enjoying some hunting and fishing. Walter Gray and six of his grandsons of Littlefield visited his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Tolly Gray last week.

They enjoyed two days of hunting and three days of white bass fishing and they had very good luck catching many big bass. Mrs. Dayton Behrns, Carroll and Terry has as holiday company, Mrs. Lucille Bible and Neta Low of Burnet; Mrs. Mark Neuhause and Marcia and Miss Thelma Behrns of San Antonio; Mr.

and Mrs. Wilton Behrns and Robbtn of Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bonnin of Friends Wood; Mr. and Mrs.

Bruce Lambert and Traci of Edna; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Draper and family of Sonora, Trudy and Rae Ann Draper stayed for a longer visit. The young people of the Tow Baptist Church were entertained with a progressive supper starting with appetizers at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Lonny Welch, on to the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Gibson for salad, on to the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Ray Sim ma nk for the main course of fried chicken and all the trimmings, on to the home of Gena Robinson for dessert. Twenty-five enjoyed the delicious dinner and carol singing at each home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hopf of Llano visited Mr.

and Mrs. Eddie Renken this weekend and Frank and Eddie enjoyed the last days of the hunting season at their hunting camp. Mr. and Mrs. Heston McBride and family visited Mr.

and Mrs. E.A. McBridein Blanket and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stewart in Comanche during the holidays.

Mitchell of Beaumont visited Mr. and Mrs. Heston McBride Saturday. Heston McBride and Bo are in Odessa this week to attend the Sandhills Hereford Show there. With all the "dunner und blitzen" and rain, there was a fair crowd at St. John Lutheran Church on New Year's Eve, for supper and Sylvester Eve Services. The John H. Schuesslers were in Austin Friday for a famiJy reunion and dinner at the Kev. Bruno Schmidt home.

Mrs. Schmidt is the former Frances Mae Schuessler. Quite a few of our elderly folks are on the sick list at ihis writing. To help Norman Birk celebrate his birthday on the last day of the old year were his wife and son Charles, sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs.

Lee Commerfelt of Brady; his aunt, Miss Annie Vaslerling, of Yoakum, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Birk. Mr. and Mrs.

William Arlt and children had new year's supper in Fredericksburg with his sister and family, the Herman Heiners. To quote a few mothers, "Boy am I glad school starts again!" Experience will teach that a few years hence, mother will be wishing for that noise the little ones make. Mrs. Martha Jeffrey has returned home after spending Christmas with her daughter and son-in-law in Algerita. Mrs.

Annie, Pleunneke has also returned after spending Christmas with her son, Ed Millenberg and family. Grandson David brought her home. Mr. and Mrs. August Kowierschke of Bangs visited the H.

M. Evers one day last week. Visiting Mrs. Chas. Keyser and Miss Rosalie Buchholz last week were Mrs.

Buchholz of Georgetown, Mr. Felix Buchholtz of Cypress Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Buchholtz, son and daughter-in- law of Dallas. On Saturday evening they were joined by Mr.

and Mrs. W. E. Dalchau for a family supper at the home of Miss Rosalie Buchholz. Major and Mrs.

John Jenkens and children have returned to their home in Grandview. after spending a week with her parents, the H. M. Evers, and also with his mother who resides in Austin. My "Boss" and I spent a day and night with our son, Dr.

Sidney Kowierschke and family in Bryan last week. We're sory at this writing that Mrs. F. J. Evers is still quite ill in the hospital.

Raymond Vasterling, 60, whose demise occured quite suddenly as the old year was going into the new, was buried in Comfort, Texas Sunday. He had lived in Hunt for many years where he was employed. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elfrida (Holekamp) Vasterling to whom he had been married almost 31 years, sisters, Milda, Mrs. Lloyd Payne and Mrs.

Pearl, Hokanson, both of Austin and Miss Minnie Vasterling of Houston; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. From Evers and this writer at- here Mr. and Mrs. Myron Vasteling, Mr. and Mrs.

Lee tended the services. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Liefeste were Mr. and Mrs.

Arno Schierberle of Gonzales. Other visitors in the Leifeste home during 'the holidays were their children, grandchildren, her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. C. C.

Mr. Gordon Buchholz of Cypress Mills spent a couple of days last week visiting relatives in Casteil. Last Sunday was recognition as youth Sunday at St. John and the guest speaker was the Rev. Ronald Birk, native of Mason, who is the Campus Minister at SWTSC in San Marcos.

Visitors at servicefe at St. John last Sunday were Miss Coni Virdell of Lubbock and Miss Annie Vasterling of Yoakum. Miss Vasterling returned home after spending a week visiting her sis- iters, Mrs. Carl Birk and Mrs. E.

January Draft Call Is Said Unlikely Selective Service officials say it is virtually certain that nobody will be drafted In January according to an Associated Press release datelined Washington. If the Pentagon should send a new draft call this week, officials say it would be technically possible to induct a few young men next month. But as a practical matter, draft officials say, this would be highly unlikely because regulations require that a prospective Inductee be given 30 days' notice. Defense sources predict that a new draft call, when it comes, will approximate the low level of 10,000 In the just-ending quarter. They indicated the main reason the draft will remain low in the months ahead Is that the Army is under orders to cut its overall strength to 892,000 men by mid-1972.
