2 because, he said, the noise from hidden movie cameras created "outrageous" playing conditions. An engineer tested the noise level of the cameras and found no difference in the sound in the empty hall with or without the cameras running. In each case the noise level was 55 decibels. The Icelandic organizers earlier agreed to remove the television and movie cameras, although revenue from the rights helped raise the total prize money to $300,000, the richest chess purse in history. Fischer, as usual, was inaccessible.

He was closeted in his hotel, presumably in quiet observance of the Sabbath his religion recognizes from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. f.tf:' rrr frM I' ijfc By JULIE FLINT Associated Prtu Staff Writer REYKJAVIK, Iceland Boris Spassky fished for salmon and Bobby Fischer kept his Sabbath yesterday as chess officials scrambled to save the world championship. After talks with officials of the International and Icelandic chess federations, Fischer's lawyer, Paul Marshal, announced the challenger had withdrawn his objection to the presence of movie cameras in the playing hall "so long as they don't blow his mind." Marshal also asked the officials to reconsider their decision to uphold the referee in declaring a forfeit because Fischer missed the second game of the 24-game series Thursday. Fischer boycotted the session, saying the cameras distracted him. Marshal said new evidence was being prepared that might stave off cancellation of the match.

He wouldn't say what the evidence was. Fischer's failure to turn up for his second encounter with the world champion gave Spassky a 2-0 lead. Spassky needs 12 points to retain the title, Fischer 12 12 to dethrone him. Each game won counts a point. A draw is half a point.

Fischer is refusing to play game No. 3 today unless the point the Russian gained by default is scratched from the score sheet (Channel 32 in Louisville plans to televise today's game at 5 p.m.). 839 E. BROADWAY AT CAMPBELL AREA 502 584-4305 Lady boxing promoter starts 30th year Advertisement This is the ad the Racing Form refused to print! Winning at the Races May Not Be Your Idea of Fun, But Mrs. Eaton says, "It's a very, very tough business for a woman to be in. It's difficult to be accepted. "You have to be temperamentally suited to be a promoter regardless of whether you're a man or a woman.

You have to be able to lose money and take a big loss and not get upset and that's not too suitable for the average women." promotions, the California State Athletic Commission in 1957 recommended she take out a promoter's license. McCoy lost his license that year when the commission investigated boxing in California. McCoy was accused of fixing fights and associating with hoodlums. Got Gorgeous George started Wrestlers and boxers are not as rough Doyle Armstrong She asks no quarter and gives none in her negotiations. "There are very few managers who are not gentlemen.

I've had arguments, of course, but I have never had a manager give me a rough time, say in the last 25 years. I had a few at first. I would absolutely not tolerate favoritism because I'm a woman. "I'm the only licensed promoter that has run this long weekly, and I run it as a business. "This is my business," she continues, "the same as anyone else who has a grocery store or a market or a professional man who's a doctor.

I expect people to understand that I run this as a business. "But that, let's say, is the outer shell. The inner shell I'm a real sucker for a loan or for an advance, or if a fighter comes in and wants money if someone's sick. I'm the first one they come to, not only in Los Angeles, but from all over the country. They know I'm a soft touch.

"But that has nothing to do with business. That's personal." No one watching her recent' BILL outside the ring as they might seem, she adds, and recalls how she got Gorgeous George started. "It was my idea originally, to give him a permanent and dye his hair and start him out as Gorgeous George. But a couple of times he would have everyone believe that he was something super human. You had to crack down on him and remind him that he was a very good wrestler, but just another wrestler with a gimmick." Her biggest thrills at the Olympic are title fights involving boxers she has brought along from preliminaries to main events.

Included in that group is Mando Ramos. "He started with me as a preliminary boy and he had that charisma the minute he started. He was drawing even when he was fighting four and six-rounders. And, at 20, he was the youngest lightweight in the world to win the championship. That's really a thrill." By RON ROACH Associated Press Staff Writer LOS ANGELES Thirty years ago this month Aileen Eaton took the task of making boxing pay off at Olympic Auditorium.

That was well before women's lib, and Mrs. Eaton still believes boxing "is no place for a woman unless it is run strictly for a business." And that's the way the 61-year-old great-grandmother, who hasn't slowed down a bit as the only woman promoter of boxing in the United States has run her business. Gracious and attractive, yet tough, she states proudly that she is the promoter male or female with the longest record of regular weekly boxing shows. Preparing to observe her 30th anniversary at the Olympic on July 27, she recalls those early days when being accepted by male promoters and matchmakers was difficult. "Our matchmaker, Babe McCoy, nearly threw a fit when he saw me in the box office for the first time.

He says, "There's no way that I'm going to work with that "My later-to-be husband Cal Eaton tells him, 'She came with the lease, so cool "Now, after all these years, I'm just -one of the boys," she declares. Asks no quarter, gives none Aileen was a press agent for the Los Angeles Athletic Club, owner of the Olympic, when she was sent to take over as business manager because the boxing tenant couldn't pay its rent. Shg -brought in Cal Eaton as promoter andh and match-maker McCoy "started teiohJng me everything the sale of tickets; scaling of the house, the matchmaking, the fights, the promotion, the advertising just about a million things that are needed." rw Sales Force All of my friends are invited to come by and see me and our fine selection of New and Used cars. Aileen had never seen a fight and it was four months after she arrived at the Olympic that she got all dressed up, wearing an orchid, for a charity bout between Henry Armstrong and Juan Zurita. "It was our first big house here.

We 459-9550 BILL COLLINS FORD had been doing nothing. There were 9,000 people and it was very exciting. Here I sit, trying to write about Larry Voegele. And all the while I'm working and sweating, the guy I'm wrfting about is out at the racetrack. Not a worry in the world and probably making more money in a day than I make in a week.

What's his secret? 11 Amu how to bmt the me et. RenHy knows. Knows so much thai he runs a school for handi-cappers. (It's the only one of its kind in the world. Which is why he was asked to appear on "What's My He charges his "students" two hundred bucks apiece.

He tells them that if they're not completely satisfied he'll return every cent they've paid, and nobody has ever asked for his money back. What's more, he went on a live radio show (The Pete Smith Show on KMPC, February 20, 1971) and did something that had never been done before. Mr. Smith really threw it to him: asked him to pick the winners in the 7 races that were being run at Santa Anita, while the program was on the air. Two out of seven would have been good enough to show a profit.

Three would have been phenomenal. Larry Voegele picked five! If he'd been at the track betting, say $20 on each race, he would have picked up a cool $404 net profit! Not bad for an afternoon's "work." And all the knowledge that Larry publicly proved that day every fact that he teaches in his $200 course is in his book. If you've never bet on a horse in your life, you'll read and enjoy every word. And end up understanding more than most guys who have been following the ponies all their lives. If you're an oldtimer, you'll skip the background and get right down to the nitty gritty.

If you can forget what you think you know, if you have the nerve and the discipline io follow his methods to the letter, you could make more money than you ever dreamed possible. "I was really swished up that night. I went down to ringside thinking that everybody was looking at me, which they Whayne Supply's EJH MI3EEL surely weren and just as I sat down Armstrong knocked out Zurita." Now she generally stays home and watches the bouts on television. Aileen, a widow with two sons, married Eaton in 1948. He died in 1966, but she had been calling the shots long before, Noting her participation in Olympic Why? Because you'll know more than 95 of the people who go to the track and you're betting against them! The money they lose, you'll win! The track and the state take their cut but there's plenty to go around.

At Santa Anita, for example, over twn' million is bet every day. And it's a statistical fact that only one out of 20 walks out a big winner. You can be one of them! Larry Voegele doesn't look like a', racetrack tout. He's not. He's a college graduate.

He was the editor of a newspaper. He was a legis- lative assistant to a congressman. He was a stockbroker, working for major Wall Street firm. ir because he found out that investing in horse races was afer and more profit- able than trying to beat the Bulls'." and the Bears at their own game. And that's the secret of his book.

He approaches handicapping as a pmfe- ioo. It's trientific. No "hunches." No "tips." No so-called "systems." It isn't even "inside Just simple, hard oi i. Facts thatnnv- ohp could see if they knew what to look for. In short, if they knew what Larry Voegele knows and tells in his book.

It'll take you about an hour to read it. Another hour to practice what he. preaches. Then if you do exactly as he says, step by step if you don't get reckless or greedy you'll be on your way to the kind of life you want. Is that worth a 2-hour I(, Because that's all you're risking.

Just time. Not money. Here's why: your check or money or- der will not be deposited for weeks after your copy of the book is-. mailed. That'll give you plenty of time to receive your book, read it thoroughly, and put the principles into nq- lion.

If you're not thrilled with what you've-, gained, just send the book back within 14 days. Your umnshed check or ey order will be in the return mail! Ever heard of an offer like that? But there's never been a book like this either. As to the price if you decide to keep the book. Frankly, we didn't know what to charge. It isn't just paper and ink.

It's information. Facts that dozens of people have paid $200 to gain and were satisfied to pay. But there aren't many people who can afford that kind of money. Even for a sure thing. So what do you think about 10 dol-lars? That's all 10 dollars.

And you have something better than a back guarantee. Because your check' or money order on't even be cashed unless and until you decided to. keep the book because it's worth a lot. more. Winning at the horse races, traveling first class and living in the best hotels may not be your idea of fun.

As for me, I think it sure beats working for a--living.
