Extension Position Special to The Tribune POCATELLO Idaho-Royal Pierson is Idaho's new extension forester said advices received in Pocatello Sunday which revealed the resignation of Stanley Clark who is assuming duties as regional forester with the conservation serv Ice at Albuquerque Mr Pierson is a native of Iowa but was reared In western Montana near Flathead He received his A degree from the University of Montana In 1930 His forestry work was done at the University of Idaho where he received his master of forestry degree in 1933 In addition to the advanced work at the Idaho school of forestry Mr Pierson has studied at the University of California Since graduating from the Uni versity of Idaho he has been employed by the division of forest pathology in the bureau of plant industry His work has been confined largely to an investigation of the life history of the blister rust disease so disastrous to northern Idaho's whits pine Mr Pierson brings to hie new task an appreciation of the problem of farmers and ranchers be cause his early life was spent on a ranch in western Montana In his studies in connection with blister rust he has been called upon to travel extensively adviser to Superintendent Schoendelen of the American Can company plant here died Sunday afternoon at a local hospital of general blood poisoning He was taken ill last Monday and had been in the hospital since Thursday Mr Jones came here with his wife on March 25 1936 taking residence at 1129 Capitol street He had worked for the American Can company 10 years Five years ago while on a business trip to Ogden he was married to Miss Charline Chilson of Hollywood Cal who came here to meet him Mr Jones was a graduate with a degree in chemistry from University of California at Los Angeles He
