THE SAUNA JOURNAL Almanac SATURDAY, JUNE! 6, 1998 B7 HOROSCOPES WEATHER PEOPLE •JOYCE JILLSON Creators Syndicate Inc. • ARIES (March 21-April 19). A new acquaintance is making your life easier by the minute - no ulterior motives, just friendly help, ^bu deserve all this attention, but it may make you feel shy. A Cancer makes a wonderful playmate. . • TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You are a conscientious and sought-after partner. Everyone, including your competitor, is expecting a steady climb in your income based on your wise investments. A romance blossoms with an old friend. • GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Ambition rides the same high level as your creativity a winning combination. Every penny counts. Reunite family members. A Leo makes you crazy. A Pisces has news. A rousing speech or service lifts your energy. • CANCER (June 22-July 22). A fantastic break is disguised as a problem waiting to be solved. Spend time with a child. Avoid getting stuck in a romantic rut by communicating carefully. A Sagittarius leads you to a new money source. • LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Speak your heart, though your mind tells you not to. Letting yourself be cared for proves to be a wonderful move, both politically and personally. A tug-of-war between cireams and practicalities produces friction. ; • TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (June 6). You've come a long way from last year, when the mysteries of yourself and your family seemed ihco'mprehensible. With your new understanding, you must move forward into knowing and helping others. Your efforts will yield fruit in the form of important business contacts and career opportunities. Love must take a back seat until August. Your best signs for love are Pisces and Cancer. • VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You may not feel like taking the time to consider necessities that arise, but when you're done, you'll have a great sense of accomplishment. A position seems tailor-made for you. • LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Pass good news along to someone who needs cheering up. You receive a gift that speaks of love. A spontaneous gathering might be the scene of a new romance. ; -SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Your practical sense saves the day. A misunderstanding can be rbctified. Something that was interrupted in the past might be resumed. You could be asked to finish what an Aries has started. • SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Save an explanation for the person who really needs it. A romantic blunder may do more good than harm. You are at your best when simply being yourself. The appreciation you crave comes spontaneously. ',• CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Meditation quiets an unruly mind. You are increasingly psychic. A delightful conversation could take place in the afternoon. An unlikely possibility rfiight be the one that becomes real. • AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Keep your confidence high, even if it means doing corny exercises and silly personal work. In a game of rivalry, you are the prize. Romance progresses only if you are willing to take a chance. • • PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Don't talk too much in unfamiliar territory. A deeper analysis of a personal problem is necessary. A purchase made pays for itself many times. Love is increasingly more satisfying. * Bad ** Fair *** Good **** Excellent Dickinson Theaters Children $3.75: Seniors S4.00; •Prlmetlme Adults 53.75; Olher Times $5.75 ' Sunset 2. From Wire Service Reports T ADVICE Couple cash in 50-year plan for dream vacation $1 was put in a special metal box each time the husband, wife made love Dear Ann Landers: Last weekend, we celebrated my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. This morning, they left on a long-awaited trip to Hawaii. They were as excited as if it were their honeymoon. When my parents married, they had only enough money for a three-day trip 50 miles from home. They made a pact that each time they made love, they would put a dollar in a special metal box and save it for a honeymoon in Hawaii for their 50th anniversary. Dad was a policeman, and Mom was a schoolteacher. They lived in a modest house and did all their own repairs. Raising five children was a challenge, and sometimes, money was short, but no matter what emergency came up, Dad would not let Mom take any money out of the "Hawaii account." As the account grew, they put it in a savings account and then bought CDs. My parents were always very much in love. I can remember Dad coming home and telling Mom, "I have a dollar in my pocket," and she would smile at him and reply, "I know how to spend it." When each of us children married, Mom and Dad gave us a small metal box and told us their secret, which we found enchanting. All five of us are now saving for our dream honeymoons. Mom and Dad never told us $ how much money they had managed to save, but it must have been considerable because when they cashed in those CDs, they had enough for TV TONIGHT ANN LANDERS Creators Syndicate Inc. airfare to Hawaii plus hotel accommodations for 10 days and plenty of spending money. As they told us goodbye before leaving, Dad winked and said, "Tonight, we are starting an account for Cancun. That should only take 25 years." — Loving Daughter in Abilene, Texas Dear Loving Daughter: I don't know when I have read a more heartwarming story. Your parents were marvelous role models for their five children. Please give them my warm, good wishes on their 50th, and ask them to drop me a postcard from Hawaii. It is truly one of the most romantic garden spots in all the world. Dear Ann Landers: In one of your recent columns, you printed a poem by Charles Osgood called "Pretty Good." I thought your readers might enjoy the enclosed poem, even though I don't know who wrote it. I found it enlightening and hope you will print it. — Winona, Miss£ Dear Winona: So did I. Here it is: Gig>d Enough Isn't Good Enough ' t»: My child, beware of "good enough," ;> It isn 't made of sterling stuff; |. : It's something anyone can do; * It marks the many from the few. The flaw which may escape the eye And temporarily get by Shall weaken underneath the strain And wreck the ship, the car or plane. With "good enough," the car breaks- down, And one falls short of high renown. My child, remember and be wise, In "goodenough,"disaster lies. .,* With "good enough," the shirkers stop In every factory and shop; With "good enough," the failures rest And lose the one who gives the best. : Who stops at "good enough" shall find Success has left them far behind. For this is true of you and your stuff- Only the best is "good enough." 6/6/98 7:00 7:30 8:00 8:30 9:00 9:30 10:00 10:30 7:00 7:30 8:00 8:30 9:00 9:30 10:00 10:30 | PBS, Bunker Hill-Hays 'irtues 6231 Guy Lombardo Lawrence Welk Show 94728 Austin City Limits 74964 Music 25273 2201490 BMTV <lckln' 407273 Jim C. 121 Road Rules Road Rules NBC, Wichita Jlovle "The Lottery" (1996) Dan Cortese.
