Parks who sold real estate, beverages and even cinder blocks before finding fame and fortune in the sausage business, died yesterday in a Tow-son, nursing center after a long illness. He was 72.

Parks is best known for his Parks Sausage the Baltimore company he helped found in 1951. The company's slogan, "More Parks Sausages, Mom," is known up and down the East Coast In 1969 it became the first black company to raise money by selling stock to the public. By 1976, H.G. Parks Inc. was a $14 million-a-year business employing 250 people.

"But he worked behind the scenes to convince powerful people of the illogic of racism." Roberts 18, died at 8:41 a.m., an hour after the wreck, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital, Daviess County Coroner Bob Howe said. The sheriffs department said that both Roberts and Ronald E. Adler, 34, of Lewisburg, were westbound on West Second Street when the accident happened. Police said Adler moved into the left lane as Roberts was passing him, and the cars collided. Police said Roberts' car ran Into a ditch and struck a culvert, which caused it to flip.

A 42-year-old Beaver Dam man died early yesterday after being injured Sunday afternoon when a tire he was inflating exploded. John Franklin Tooley died at 1:03 a.m. at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital, state police said. Tooley was filling a tire on his vehicle Sunday at the Pit Stop Market on U.

S. 231 in Beaver Dam when the tire exploded at 12:05 p.m., causing the rim to strike his head, according to police and Daviess County Coroner Bob Howe. Tooley died of a fractured skull, Howe said. Tooley's survivors include his wife, Marlene Tooley, and son, John Allen Tooley, both of Beaver Dam; four sisters, Thelma Harper of Ev-ansville, Wanda Rafiner of Central City, Pat Vincent of Grand Rivers and Mary Jo Dunn of Sacramento; and five brothers, Clifford and Billy Tooley, both of Evansville, BORDEN Edith L.
