Police Report 282 Offenses Collect $1,877 in Fines, Forfeitures A total ot $1,877.05 was collected in fines and forfeitures in police court during August, according to the monthly report submitted to Mayor H. E. Bruce by Police Chief Harold Wolfe. During the month 282 offenses were reported or known to police. Of this number 267 were cleared by arrests. Offenses included burglary 2, larceny of more than .$20 value 11, larceny of less than $20 value 3, auto theft 3, assaults 3, carrying weapons 1, driving while intoxicated 3, intoxication 68, disorderly conduat 18, traffic violations 156, other offenses 2, and investigation 12. Dispositions of arrests include straight jail 14, straight fine or jail 58, bail forfeited 170, held to grand jury 6, held to juvenile court 1, dismissed 12, sentence suspended 1, released to others 4, police probation 13, county jail 20, and city jail 21. During the month 5 persons were taken to hospitals and 56 collisions were reported. Four pedestrians were injured by cars and 3 persons were injured in auto collisions. Sixty-nine doors and windows were found open, 15 night lights were not burning, 153 street lights were reported out, and 46 dogs were picked up and 45 killed. Thirty-three finger print records were filed and 35 suspects were photographed. Sponsors Supper Thompson — A fried chicken supper sponsored by the W. S. C. Falls From Roof Thompson —Kenny, 6, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lockrem, narrowly escaped serious injury when he fell backwards off the roof of the back room of the Lockrem Bros. Hardware building. He was walking backwards on the roof when he stumbled and fell, receiving only slight scratches on his face.
