Nursing Home Gives October Birthday Party A birthday parly was given Monday afternoon at Stella's Nursing Home, Jones and N. 13th, to honor October birthdays of Mrs. Annie Daniels and Sammy Gordon and Mrs. Stella Downtain, staff member. Gray Lady Mrs. Juanita Kells played guitar accompaniment for Mrs. Zielke Chosen HDU President President of the Evening Belles Home Demonstration Unit for the ensuing year will be Mrs. Don Zielke. Mrs. Melvin Holmes is to be vke-president; Mrs, Edwin Carroll, secretary; and Mrs. Milton Thomas, treasurer. This is the result of the election Tuesday evening. Mrs. Holmes, 308 bavis, was assisted by Mrs. John Gaylord in entertaining the 11 who were present. Guests wer e Mrs. Don Martin and Mrs. Arnold Stevenson. The lesson on what to look for when purchasing new furniture was given by Mrs. Robert Johnson. She also led two contests — one on wood. 0 and the construction of furniture and to name superstitutions. Prizes and gifts were won by Mrs. Carl O'Brien and Mrs. Bob Johnson on super- stitutions and Mrs. Zielke, on woods. The hostess gift was won by Mrs. Holmes. Mrs. Kenneth Sizemcre conducted the business session and led the discussion concerning new and prospective members. The Christmas show is scheduled for Dec. 2 at the Civic Center. Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the 4-H building will be the lesson on frozen foods to be .eiven by Elsie Branden, Finney"bounty Home Economics agent. The Centennial Gals and the Garden City Gals will meet in conjunction with the Evening Belles. Page 10 Garden City Telegram Saturday, October 27, 1962 singing of old favorite songs by tho group. Pictures were taken and a decorated birthday cake was served _with homemade ice cream. Plans were made for a monthly birthday party to honor residents. 'tuff Tomatoes Ever use canned salmon as a stuffing for tomatoes. Mix the flaked salmon with celery, diced sweat pickle and mayonnaise and spoon into the tomato cavities. Serve on crisp salad greens for lunch. Swirl Raspberries Ever swirl almost-thawed frozen raspberries into vanilla ice cream? Serve in parfait glasses with whipped cream and sugared violets for a garnish. That's strictly company fare!
