Central (Continued from Page 13) in 21 points for the Blue Jays. Salina Central got a huge night from Aaron Bachelor and Jason Armstrong.

Bachelor turned in a double-double performance with a career-high 33 points and 13 boards. It was Bachelor who did most of the damage for the Mustangs from the line as the G-foot-4 junior made 17 of 20 throws and hit seven straight in the overtime. Armstong, a 6-2 sophomore swing player, popped in 25 points and was Johnny-on-the-spot a number of times for the Mustang defense. "Jason and Aaron were just outstanding," Parr said. "Those kind of points (33 and 25) speak for them- selves." Central needed a last-minute comeback in regulation just to get into the overtime.

Junction City led the entire fourth period, once by five points at 68-63, before a free throw by Bachelor made it 70-70 with 1:27 remaining. Regulation ended with a little bit of Mustang good fortune as Junction City's Thad McClelland was awarded a one-and-one with only :05 left to play and score tied 73-73. McClelland flew the front end long off the back of the iron, but the Blue Jays wrestled the rebound free and missed two shots before the buzzer rescued Central and sent the game into overtime. In the extra period it was all Central as the Mustangs combined a patient ball control offense with uncanny free throw shooting to bury the Blue Jays. Bachelor hit 7 of 8 attempts from the stripe in the overtime, Tony Owen was 2 for 2 on his way to an 8 for 8 night from the line and Armstrong made good on his two attempts.

In fact, the 'Stangs made only one field goal in the overtime, but outscored Junction City 13-7. "That was just a great high school game," Parr said. "I guess I'm most proud of how hard we played. Everybody on the floor, including Junction City, really put out a great effort." The Mustangs have two regular season contests remaining, both against J-70 league opponent Topeka WestnexVweek. Tuesday's Central-West contest is a makeup game from a game postponed because of snow in late January.
