THE BROOKSH1RE TIMES, Friday, November 11.1949 Barkers Receive Guests in Their Beautiful New Home Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Barker entertained with an open house November 3rd. Beautiful autumn floral arrangements were throughout the spacious home. The twelve pastel rooms are beautifully furnished in modern and Chinese.

The floor coverings are cut pile over rubber waffle padding. The lighting fixtures are indirect and flou- rescent to bring out the beauty of the furnishings. Floral fettle drapes accentuate the steel casement windows. Mirrors and tile add to the beauty of the home. Mrs.

Boyce Tucker, Mrs. Ward Stanberry, Mrs. Bennie Stanberry, Miss Vivian Waterbury and Miss Lois Ellington escorted the guests through the rooms. Miss Loretta Nash kept the! guest book Refreshments of frozen lime punch, cookies, mints and nuts were served to the 150 guests in the breakfast room. At the punich bowl was Mrs.

Melvin Scott and Mrs. W. O. Nash. Out of town guests included Mr.

and Mrs. P. J. Harvey and grandson, Mr. and Mrs.

Gerald Darroh and sons, Mr. Pace, Mrs. Julius Epstein and Mr. C. M.

Micjialsky of Houston, Reuben! Bush of Rockdale, Mr. and Mrs. M. N. Bryun and daughters of Brenham and Miss La- Vaude Barker of Perryton.

Mrs. T. B. Tucker, the host- throughout the evening. The Apostalic Church membership held a harvest spread in the Tucker Round Top on Saturday evening.

Delicious 1 barbeque was furnished by Messrs. Otto and Roland Busch. Out of town guests were the Mahan Evangelistic party from La- verhe, Oklahoma, and the Rev. LeGear family from Hempstead. Lela K.

Busch Entertains The Christian Neighbors met at the home of Lela K. Busch on October 27th. The young women were kept busy working on quilt blocks. Lovely refreshments of fruit ambrosia and brownies were served. Two guests present were Mrs.

Fred Peck and Mrs. Otto Busch. Presley Schoeneman, Jr. celebrated his third birthday on November 8 with a few of his frieiids. Those enjoying the party fun were Melinda Poorman, Jimmy Dale Shipman, Marvin and Edwin Divin, Charles Murry, Jo Henry Zubik, Horace Mode Westmoreland, Margaret Motheral, Johnny and Barbara Jean Hall, and Jerry Ray and Jo Carol Coynes.

The fish pond, apple bobbing, baseball and voting booths were centers of attraction. Mrs. Rozelle Roark was the gypsy fortune teller. The second mothers sold balloons and serpentine, the eighth grade had a country store, the 4-H girls sponsored a spook house while the Hub Club had a grab bag booth. Refreshments of cherry and apple cider, doughnuts, candy, cakes, cokes and popcorn were served.

Choosing the funniest and most original costumes was quite a task. Dollar bills were awarded to James Watson, Billy Otto, Becky Tyner and Winnie Koenig. Jean Miller, Annette Heinemeyer and Maggie Lou Brown played piano selections before the program. "The Womanless PTA" a skit was heartily received. The business men of town, were dressed more or less in the "old look" and their acting was hilarious.

Messrs. Jim Watson was the president, Mclver the secretary, Heinemeyer the pianist while Gurney Miller, Bruton, Wilson, Capers, Moore, Skeet Poorman, Gordon Fussell, Reaves, Dube, A. 0. Miller, Short, Smoky Waggoner, Moebes and Schmaltz were active PTA members. Baby Shorty Cott and nurse Jim Rose brought on riots of laughter.

Then the voting booth for the ugliest man in Katy held the spot light for the rest of the evening. Mr. Al Harris was nosed out by a few votes by Mr. Cecil Laywell. This booth brought in $111.50 and the profits of the entire Frolic will be used wisely for the needs of the school and it's youth.
