Coyote Increase Worries Iowa Livestock Men DESMO1NES, Iowa (AP) — A coyote population explosion has been recorded over the past decade in southern Iowa and it has livestock owners there worried. Even some biologists who had defended coyotes as innocent victims are beginning to have second thoughts. "The credibility gap between wildlife biologists and the farmer may not be as big as we once thought it was," said Ron Andrews, the Iowa Conservaton Commission's specialist on furbearing animals. Andrews is in the third year of a research project on the coyote and hopes to "put facts into the talk about the effects of coyotes on livestock." Based on research so far, dogs probably kill more sheep than coyotes do. said Andrews. But coyotes have been causing a larger proportion of the total losses in recent years, he said. by Art Sonsom THIS COFFEE TA6TBS FUMNY, BUGS BUNNY by Stoffel & Hcimdahl GOOD THINKIN', FUDDSY/ I'D LIKE TO LOOK AT A SPORTS JACKET/ LE'S SEE IF WE C'N \ FIND SOMETHIN' T' FIT ] THAT LUMPY Ll'L / EODV O' YERS/ ) PRISCILLA'S POP by Al Vermeer I JUST LOVE> CHOCOLATE- \J3UNN IE S .'
