The body of Charles Orville Burchette, 49, of Madisonville, was recovered from a lake near the Atkinson mine Friday afternoon. Burchette was an electrical engineer for the Western Kentucky division of Island Creek Coal Co. A search for him started Friday morning after he failed to report for work. A fellow employe recalled that Burchette had said the night before that he was going fishing in the Atkinson lake.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death. Survivors include his wife Virginia, and son Charles both of Bluefield, W. and his father, Dewey Burchette, Whitewell, Tenn. The body is at the Harris Funeral Chapel in Madisonville where friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today.
