ODEBOLT — Carroll freshman Twyla Ruchti won the mile run here for Carroll High School's only first-place finish in the Trojanette Invitational. Ruchti, who ran the mile in a new school record time of 6:05, led the Tigerettes to a lOth-place finish out of 19 schools. Carroll tallied 26% points as strong Storm Lake ran away with the meet, scoring lOl'/a points. Second went to Schaller with 57 points. '-'It's one of the toughest meets around," commented Carroll Head Coach George Lansink. "I was pleased with the points we scored.'' "We have now finished the first half of our season. We can now rest and work towards the second half," added Lansink whose team will be in action Tuesday, hosting their own relays. Senior Rachel Harmening was the Tigerettes' best finisher. She high jumped .4-10 to take second on misses. Carroll came up with two fourth-places, both in relay events — the distance medley and the 880 yard medley. Running on the distance medley team which was timed in 4:57.2 were Joni Becker. Cindy Feldt and Lori and Rachel Harmening. Excited Call Ex-Penn State tackle Steve Smear, joining the football staff at Navy this spring, made an excited call to head Coach George Welsh about a young sleeper.
