Hickory Ph. CH 2-5600 WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Harry S. Truman accused the Eisenhower administration today of having held America back by "wrong and unwise policies at the lop." Now, he said, comforting, courageous leadership is giving the nation a chance to do its best. "I look to the days and months ahead with confidence," Truman said with reference to the administration of President Kennedy. And peering back at his own tenure of the White House, Truman declared that nothing "related to my experience there came up to disturb or to haunt me." The former chief executive's forum was a luncheon at the National Press Club. It was staged on the 13th anniversary of whal the club called the political up set of the century—Truman's un derdog victory over Thomas E Dewey in the 1948 presidentia election. Truman, in his prepared speech ripped into Dwight D Eisenhowei repeatedly, but not by name. The two former presidents never have made personal peace. He said of the Republican Ei senhowcr administration that was one of the more unfortunate periods in the history of Americai government." The men at the helm of government, he said, could not call orth the greatness of America to meet the challenges of today. They were too timid, he said, or they "did not understand how to call forth the full strength of this mighty nation." Rhodes, Crescent, up to Wichita for Used Autos For Sale —-89 1952" CHEV. Practice and coaching is under the direction of Mary Esterbrook, class sponsor and English III teacher. From the paper money seen floating around, there must be a big holdup in the making. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dickey went to Wichita last Friday to visit until Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boyd. Their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Okla., came Sunday. A special meeting of the Franklin County Teachers Association called by the president, Alden Cearfoss, was attended by Carlin Nalley, Mrs. Anna Bunyan and Mary Hudelson from the high school and by Mrs. Marjorie Griffin of the grade school. The meeting was in the form of roundtables to discuss goals and procedures in regard to teacher education, teaching service, personnel relations, professional association participation and leadership, professional and economic security and community relations. Refreshments of doughnuts and coffee were served during a recess. In a second session, finance, state aid, retirement, transportation and tenure were considered. With the voicing of opinions by the local association, the representatives to the state meetings, Charles Hill, Lane, and Forrest Bond, Williamsburg, will be better able to express local sentiment on various matters that come up for consideration.
