Arthur Neu of Carroll Saturday challenged legislative candidates to.i "prove that citizen legislators •are not relics of .the past." Neu's remarks came at the Republican Campaign University which was held in Des Moines. More than 170 Republican legislative and county, officer candidates registered for the day-long . seminar at Drake University. Neu said that Republican candidates elected next November "must have an unwritten priority of working toward shorter sessions." "We must-try to make it possible for every lowan to serve in the Legislature," he said. "Longer sessions have combined with expanded interim activities to make legislative service nearly impossible for too many lowans. We must again make it possible for working lowans to serve.in the Legislature without jeopardizing their careers." "The people of Iowa are served.best by three-to-five-month legislative sessions," Neu added. "Necessary decisions can be made, and unnecessary solutions can be avoided." Church Services ST.
