Th.'.t's the advice (ho nation's u idles have for women who want, to join the jKints suit papule that's sweeping the coun- l.'W. Although many men held out for the miniskirt—"I like to see a lady's legs," said one—most of those replying to an Associated Press survey gave qualified approval to women wearing pants, both for day and evening. "They look good on girls if the pris are good- looking," said Robert Winter, a Detroit businessman. "They look great on young girls, but they're inappropriate for more mature women,'' said Sam T. Milliken, a stock broker from Denser. Milliken added, however, "When I take a lady out for dinner or drinks or dancing, I like to see her in a dress." Robert Chace, cily manager of Laveland, Ohio,- a Cincinnati suburb, said, "I have no exceptions to them. In fact, I would •.•ather see women in pants than mmiskirts. God gave us an imagination ..." The fit, cut and cost ol pants suits determines not. only male approval, but also whether a woman will be accepted at many of the country's top nightclubs and restaurants. In Hollywood, dressy pants suits are okay. Tight-fitting cap- n pants are outlawed. A spokesman for the Brown Derby, for example, said pants suits are periectly acceptable in the restaurant, "but plain old slacks eat in the bar." The Rt. Rev. Msgr. William Drunim, chancellor of the Arch- di'.cese of St. Louis, said miniskirts are more of a problem in church than pants. "Right now. ' he said, "we're worrying a>~out the highs—not the lows." They also object because '. s .me of the games require physical contact between opposite sexes. One parent said, "They paw each other." The students, however, have praised the sessions for the op- pi'n tunity they provide for them i to express themselves freely. Forty students signed a petition u/ging that both sides be heard iWore the sessions are perma- j nnnlly discontinued.
