Ann Brewer turned on her radio Monday to hear the inauguration ceremonies in Washington and the first voice was of a clergyman. "What's he saying?" asked her n-year-old son, Clark. "He's praying," said Mrs. Brewer. "He's talking to God." Then came the well-known resonant voice of U.S. Sen. Everett S. Dirksen, who acted as i director of the ceremonies. ! "]s that God answering" j asked Clark. ; By HAL BOCK Associated Press Sports Writer MONTREAL (AP) — They say getting a tie is like kissing your sister—nice, but not very exciting. But Scotty Bowman, coach of the National Hockey League's West Division All- Stars, wasn't complaining about his team's 3-3 deadlock against the power-laden East in the 22nd annual ,A11-Star Game Tuesday night. That's because" the West wasn't supposed to get a victory or a tie in this game. Bowman's team was made up of the cream of the expansionist division, who in real life are the castoffs of the older East Division. But the West scrambled all night long, led for most of the game, and finally gained the tie on a goal by Minnesota's Claude Larose in the final three minutes of play. "The tie was good for hockey in general, and certainly good for the teams in our division," said Bowman, coach of the St. Louis Blues. "We got good performances from a lot of players." Most of them—until Minnesota's line of Larose, Danny Grant and Danny' O'Shea combined for the tying goal—were Bowman's own Blues. He had eight of them in the West line-up. "The only time I enjoyed the game," said Toe Blake, who returned from retirement to coach the East stars, "was when we led 3-2." _ Only they had the lead, the East turned it on but Coach Jacques Plante and the W e st held fast and then Larose's late goal made Bowman ready not only to kiss his sister, but give her a hug, as well. "It was a great chance for them to show that they could do against some very select opposition and I thought they came througs very well," the coach said of his expansion team. Larose, hero of the tie for the West, said he was happy with the format change that matches stars of East and West divisions against each other for the first time. "If it had been a case of the stars being chosen just from the Eastern teams," Larose said, "players like myself would not have had a chance to make an All-Star appearance. I'm happy for this chance, and I'm glad I was able to get such an important goal." Crushed By Car AURORA, 111. (AP) — Lutie Huher, 72, was directing the car driven by her husband into a parking lot spce Monday when, police said, the car lurched suddenly, pinned her against a wall and killed her. The woman's husband. Jo- ??;)h, 81, told police his foot s."pped from the brake to the accelerator while his wife was guiding him into the space at a shopping center lot. Huber was treated for shock and was released. ^•kW'LET GEORGE DO IT> bur9m RADIO AND TELEVISION SALES AND SERVICE SPORTING GOODS Your. Noyd's claim that the Air Force acted illegally in confining him while he was in the process of appealing his court-martial conviction to military courts. The- will be heard within th next few months and decided by June. Noyd, 34, was confined to Cannon Air Force Base in New vlexico last March when lie was found to have refused to-train a student pilot for Vietnam duty. A former Air Force Academy psychology instructor, he had registered a conscientious objection to the war in Vietnam— though not to all wars. With time off for good behavior Noyd's one-year sentence expired Dec. 26. The Justice Department suggested the Court consider Noyd's appeal as moot. Noyd was sentenced to one year at hard labor, dismissal from the service and forfeiture of all pay and allowances. He is a former fighter pilot and a veteran of 11 years' Air Force service.
