The course is designed to invigorate the veteran teacher and encourage the novice instructor. Carol Swinney, Spanish teacher at Hugoton High School, will be the instructor. Swinney was named the 1992 Kansas Teacher of the Year and spent the year working with teachers across the state. In addition, she was a Kansas $25,000 Milkin Family Foundation winner. The course cost is $390 for three hours of graduate credit, or $195 for non credit. A material fee of $20 also will apply. KWU institute offers Bourse for teachers li Kansas V^esleyan .University's fife Long Learning Center and JEe-Licensure Institute will offer •fThe Changing Face of Educa- Dickinson County sets annual Relay for Life ABILENE — Dickinson County walkers and runners will join in the battle against cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society's second annual Relay for Life, set for Aug. 29. Teams will gather at the Abilene High School track for a 12-hour relay from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Participants camp out around the track and when they are not walking or running, take part in activities and enjoy local entertainment. Teams from companies, churches, organizations and schools collect donations and vie for individual and team prizes. The event will close with a luminary ceremony at 9 p.m. People who have died of cancer and who have survived will be honored. The Relay for Life replaces the former door-to-door campaign, the Community Crusade Drive.
