THE TITONKA TOPIC. UTONKA, IOWA, DECEMBER 19, 1974 We sincerely wish our many customers and friends every blessing of the season. THE DON NORLANDS Greetings! A very Merry Christmas to all of our readers scattered around the world. We had hoped to have several letters from subscribers, but since we didn't have too much success, I thought it might be a good opportunity to let some of our readers get better acquainted with us. It doesn't seem possible that it was nearly 20 years ago that Shirley and I came to Titonka with our very young family to start publishing the Topic. Now our children are grown and having their own families. As our regular readers know, Shirley and I became grandparents for the first time this year; and what a ttirill it was! Kt^^ George got transferred to San Francisco just before the baby was born in Phoenix, but was • lucky enough to be back in ' Phoenix when Carrie went into \ the hospital. They are all settled in Frisco now and we are look-, ing forward ,to spending Christmas with them. Phil and Ruth have moved to Paradise, Calif. (I think that's a wonderful name for a town), and are settled in their new home there. Ceramics is taking up most of ,their time right now, but Phil hopes to get back to Chico State to complete his education i n the spring, and Ruth is picking up a few hours of credit while they await the arrival of their first child in March. Vi is still working i n the cardiac intensive care unit at General Hospital in Phoenix freelings and enjoying her work as an R.N. Cheryl has asserted her independence by moving into an apartmemt across the street from us and Is working at Marian's Beauty Salon in town. It's nice to have at least one of the children home, but we do miss the rest of the kids and the chance ito watch our grandchildren grow up. If everything goes as we hope, all of the children will be home at the same time next summer. It will be the first time we have all been together for quite awhile. Between helping me at the shop and cooking at the Care Center, Shirley manages to keep busy. Right now she is enjoying shopping for the babies, and is really radiant, as a grandmother. With my sports u To our many wonderful friends and patrons, sincere best wishes for the holidays and a "Thank you!" for-your patronage!
