fact that there will be a great increase in the world of the organization during the winter months. That this work may be accomplished with the greatest satisfaction, it was decided that the membership of the organization at present was too small to handle the work property and it was voted to appoint a larger membership, this addition to be made up of past presidents of clifts belonging to the Allied clubs who have acred in that capacity. Because of the strict quarantine now on at Fort Leavenworth owing to the prevalence of The Spanish influenza, the work of the organization for the past week has been somewhat curtailed, but when the quarantine is lifted the clubs will take up their winter work. Hippodrome. The great William Fox super production, "A Fool There Was," the picture that is largely responsible for tiie wonderful reputation gained by Miss Theda Kara as a portrayer of vampire roles, is the attraction at the Hippodrome Tiieater today and tomorrow. Miss Uara has often been spoken of as the woman of a thousand expressions and many of are brought into play in this offering. As a vampire picture "A Fool There Was'' is said to stand in a class by itself and those that were in a position to see it at his prior showing are very lavish in their praise for the production. "A P'ool There Was is a pic-turization of the book of the same title that was widely read upon its publication.

Marguerite in Out oS lear Sky" at (he Orpheum. Marguerite Clark makes a dainty little Belgian countess, and Thomas Meighan an ideal American hero in "Out of a Clear Sky," the Paramount at the Orpheum today. The role is one to which the little star stems particularly suited; that of a countess who flees from Belgium to avoid a distasteful marriage and who swore that she wouldn't marry a German, find "died" to keep her word. There is a surprising outcome to the story of the countess' determination to marry whom she chose. She escaped from Uel-gium and came to America in order to have her own way, but her uncle, who had sold himself to the G(mans, pursued her.

She takes a train that passes through the mountains of Tennessee and there jumps off at a water tank when she finds her uncle on the train. She drops into the arms of an American and he persuades the uncle that she has become the victim of a bolt of lightning so the uncle returns home, leaving lie little countess to renounce her title ana to oecoiue piam "Mrs." Robert Lawrence. Pathe News has many interesting views of the great war. CUTiCURA HEALS OTHER'S HANDS Would Itch and Burn Dreadfully, Swollen and Cracked Open, "My mother's hands were terrible. Her hands were swollen and were hard, and they would crack open and bleed. "CuticuraSoap and Oint ment were recommended and when she used a quarter of a box of Cuticura Ointment and a quarter of a cake of Scap her hands were healed." (Signed) Mrs. A. Deurloo, 929 Ionia N. Grand Rapids, Mich.

is Leslie in "A Xyniph of the Foothill I. jeen ni. A story of the Blue Ridge mountains with Gladys Leslie as the untutored mountain girl is "A Xymph of the Foothills." the Vitagraph at the Lyceum today. The story is a melodrama that permits Hiss Leslie opportunity to display an assortment of emotions, from light-hearted gayety to tragic despair, and she meets all the requirements of her part. A pleasing feature of the production is the scenic embellishment.

The mountain views are all of exceptional beauty. The story concerns the narrow mindMl prepudicp against city folks that causes a bewhiskereii mountaineer to refuse to consent when a city fellow who is camping nearby wants to many his daughter. He drives the fellow away at the point, of his gun. The pair then go to a camp and are married. Later scenes of tiie mountain girl in a city home, her manners, make for good comedy.

The mysterious dath of the girls father, and her hus-hand being charged with the crime bring on many exciting moments.
