W., were hosts to a birthday party given Sunday to relatives and friends in honor of Mr. Dillon's mother, Mrs. Emma Dillon, of Union. "Grandma" Dillon traveled 90 miles Sunday morning to attend her own birthday party given in her honor at East park shelter house. She was 88 Saturday. Families of 4 sons attended the reunion. Two sons and their families, Frank W. Dillon, Medelia, Minn : , and O. W. Dillon, Liscomb, Iowa, were unable to attend. A purse of 88 silver dol- ars was given in honor of her J8 years. Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Dillon and daughter, Linda Mae, were present and took moving pictures of the reunion. Promotion Day at Immanuel Awards Presented, (? Offering Taken The annual promotion day service was held by the Immanuel Lutheran Sunday school Sunday morning. After the opening worship service, conducted by Mrs. Roy W. Myers, superintendent, Susan Mott gave a reading entitled "Moving Up Day." Songs -were presented by the nursery, beginners and primary departments. Recitations, "The Sunday School Ladder," "Too Bad" and "Looking Ahead" were given. A word of! welcome was said by Sharon O'Green. Open Garden Gate Decorations included a ladder and a garden gate, decorated with flowers, which opened at the time the children received their promotion certificates. The superintendent presented awards to several students. Paul Nielson received his 7th award for faithful attendance in the 7 years he has been enrolled. Three of these awards were for perfect attendance, including the one presented Sunday. Awards for faithful attendance also were presented to Justin Mewburg, Dennis Christensen, Sandra Bruch, Barbara Branch, Ronald Christensen, Patricia Meeker! Beverly Hanson, Beverly Ann Myers, Robert. Meeker and Jay Meeker. Offering Taken An offering was taken for Lutheran Welfare and the program closed with a solo by Evelyn Ann Myers, "The Lord's Supper," by Malotte. Installation services for teachers and officers were held following the divine worship service. Teachers for the coming Sunday school year are: Mrs. Bruce Meeker, Phyllis Allen, C a r o 1 e e O'Green, Marcedes Balek, Clara Prohaski, Mrs. George Schriver, L. W. Ackmann, -Mrs. Ben Murray and Mrs. Ralph Paul. Substitute teachers are Mrs. Virgil Brown, Barbara Murray, Mrs. Cecelia Glaser, Darlene Shaner, Mrs. Edwin Schultz, Mrs. D. C. Fields, Mrs. Harold Allen and Mrs. Melford Newburg. Local Chiropractors at State Convention; Masters Is on Program Attending the 23rd annual convention of the Iowa Chiropractors' association at Des Moines are Dr. M. W. Masters and Dr. W. C. Grainger of Mason City ancl Dr. A. C. Rorvig of Clear Lake. Dr. Masters will lead a discussion on the program. He will give his views on "specific symptoms and painful conditions which are related to similar sninal curvatures as revealed by X-ray films." The meeting, which opened Sunday, will close Tuesday. A speaker Sunday, Dr. Leo L. Spears, who heads his own clinic at Denver, said he can completely deaden pain by manipulating various nerves. The other main talk was presented by Dr. H. C. Render, psychiatrist of the Palmer School of Chiropractic at Davenport.
