Scott County was paced by Randy Mann and Scott Blackwood with 14 points each. Jim Griffin of Oldham County (13-7) was the game's high scorer with 17 points. Despite 20 points by Steve Yancey, Bishop David (3-13) lost at Edmonson County 72-60. Bishop David trailed 49-47 with 3:30 left in the third quarter, when Edmonson County (12-6) pulled away. The hosts hit 10 of 13 free throws In the fourth period.

In girls' games: Maria Poschinger poured in 30 points on 11 field goals and 8-for-8 free-throw shooting to pace LIT champion Mercy (20-4) to a 73-52 win over Moore (9-6). Mercy made 19 of 26 free throws and had little trouble beating Moore's full-court press. Elfreda Tucker scored 18 points for Moore, which made all four of its free throws. Assumption (15-4) sank only 12 of 28 foul shots but connected on 33 of 54 field-goal tries for 61 percent in whipping Boyd County 78-41 at Cannonsburg. Marilyn Corbett scored 17 points and Rhonda Raque scored 10 in the first half and didn't play the last two quarters.

WRESTLING Central's Victor Cartwrlght in the 155-pound class. At heavyweight Chris Beakes defeated Central's John Elchholtz for the sixth Waggener individual title. Doss won the West Jefferson District by 57j4 points over second-place Falrdale. "I pleased with our performance," said Doss coach Ralph Williams whose team won its third title. Williams' team qualified 10 wreslters for the regional with six first place winners, three second and one third.

However, there were a few minor surprises. Fairdale's Tommy Bradford beat Doss' Brandy Langley in the finals of the 98-pound weight class. In the 167-pound, class Western's Bret Atkins beat Doss' Kenny Hart Doss had entered 11 wrestlers, but 112-pounder Willie Fraizier came down with the flu after winning his first-round match. Williams wouldn't let him wrestle after that Host Trinity won the Central Jefferson District by 69 points over sec- ond-place St Xavier. Trinity had 12 wrestlers qualify for next weekend's Northern Kentucky Regional.

Waggener had 10 wrestlers qualify for next week's Jefferson County Regional at Fern Creek. Waggener had six champions and two second-place finishers out of the 11 that entered the competition. Waggener coach Jack Jacobs had been a little concerned about his team's chances of winning the title' because his team drew five first-round byes. "I was a little worried about all the byes," said Jacobs. "But we were wrestling so well and Central was wrestling good; it (the bye dilemma) kind of had faded out by the semifinals."
