A poem inspired by a battle, "The Star Spangled Banner" reflects a deep faith in all that is America. Over the years, many bills were introduced in the house to make it the Nation's official National Anthem, and were defeated many times. A bill introduced to the Congress was approved in March 1931, finally making Key's song the official National Anthem, was signed by President Herbert Hoover . . . over 116 years after it was written.
