(AP) A Jefferson County Circuit Court jury was scheduled to f e- sume deliberations today after failing to reach a verdict tues- day night in the first-degree murder trial of Lonnie Walker, 51, of Pine Bluff. The jury deliberated more than 4% hours Tuesday night. Walker is accused in the July shooting death of Julius Russell, 35, also of Pine Bluff. Russell was shot to death as he sat in his car waiting to carry someone home from a cafe after an altercation inside a cafe. LITTLE ROCK (AP) - The Arkansas Education Department has reported that the state's vocational-technical schools have a record high enrollment of 3,764 this fall. The department also has reported that the schools have a waiting list of more than 400 applicants for some departments. The Education Department says the schools' capacity would be increased by 1,500 next year through expansion of existing schools and the construction of new ones at Batesville, Crossett, DeQueen, DeWitt, McGehee, Mena, Melbourne, Newport, North Little Rock and Springdale. MAGAZINE, Ark. (AP) Authorities say Roger Ryan, 16, of Magazine was killed late Tuesday when the tractor he was driving overturned into a pond, pinning him beneath the vehicle. The boy was a junior at J. D. Leftwich High School and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Ryan. The accident occurred on the family's farm east of here. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Two young men added a new twist to the college students' streaking craze Tuesday when they tried to streak their way into a University of Arkansas fraternity. A Fayetteville patrolman answering a disturbance "all near an apartment complex found two unidentified males without any clothes on. One youth was covered with shaving cream, and the other was coated with a mixture of corn flakes and maple syrup. Police said it was part of the boys' initiation into Sigma Nu fraternity. The officer apparently thought the two had suffered enough and did not arrest them. WASHINGTON (AP) - A Senate-House conference committee has agreed on a 1975 defense appropriations bill of $82.5 billion. Sen. John L. McClellan, D- Ark., chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said the appropriation is a reduction of $4.4 billion, or about 5.15 per cent, below the administration's amended budget request of $87 billion.
