Swancr of 1509 Whites Creek pike died at 50 p.m. yester day, of a head injury, which offi cers said was received when he was thrown from the car to the pavement. Swaner a brother-in-law, Clyde Bell, 39, of Chattanooga, was charged with leaving the scene Sam N. Swaner of an accident, and driving while drunk, according to Sgt. Earl Haw kins of the county highway patrol, who investigated.

Bell Listed as Driver Hawkins said Bell was the driver of a car which struck a parked truck on Whites Creek pike near Wealey ave. Swancr was a passenger in the car, Hawkins said, adding that he was thrown to the pavement when the door flew open at the impact of the collision. Bell continued down the road about 1500 feet before deserting the car on the roadside, according to the officer. He was questioned and arrested the following day. The truck was the property of J.

D. Kerr, address not listed. The death was the 33rd traffic fatality to occur in the county since Jan. 1. Eighteen persons have died Inside city limits.

Funeral Set Tomorrow Funeral services for Swancr will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Riverside Baptist mission. The Rev. R. H.

Birthright will officiate. Burial will be in National cemetery with American Legion Post 5 in charge of services at the grave. A native of Rutherford county, Mr. Swancr was a son of Mrs. Zadie Swaner, and the late Bart Swaner.

Ho came to Nashville with his parents 32 years ago, and re ceived his education in Caldwell school here. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of tho American Legion. Attended GI School Until recently he had attended a GI automobile training school here. Other survivors Include his widow, Mrs. Pauline Martin Swaner of Chicago, and three sisters, Mrs.

Clyde Bell of Chattanooga, and Mrs. John W. Smittv, and Mrs, Sherman Major, both of Nashville, Mrs. Delia Kate Curl Mrs. Delia Kate Curl, 78, died yesterday in a Nashville nursing home.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at p.m. at the Mount Juliet, church. The Rev. R. V.

Cawthon will offieiatc. Burial will be in Mount Juliet cemetery. Mrs. Curl had been In falling health the last eight years. Before entering the nursing home, she had, lived with her son, Walter Daniel Curl, at 2204 Belmont blvd.

Born in Wilson county, she was the daughter of Daniel E. and Amanda Jennings Smith. She lived much of her life in Florida and Texan. She was mirried to Rufus Walter Curl in 1898. He died last year.

They spent most of their married life in Mount Junet. In addition oher son, she Is survived by a brother. Howell Dixon Smith. Fort Pierce, three grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. Reuben J.

Stockman Funeral servires for Reuben J. Stockman, 93. of 500 Wilson who died Friday after a long illness, will be held at John C. Roesch funetal home today at 3:30 p.m. Dr.

Carlwright Rites To Be Today Peter A. Cartwright, a retired real estate agent, died at his home, 1234 Martin yesterday morning after suffering a heart at-taek. Funeral services will bo held to morrow at 10 a.m. at Johnson and Charlton funeral home. The Rev.

R. L. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery Mr. Cartwright had not been 111 previously.

Born in Nashville, he was the son of Peter A. and Leonaga Gower Cartwright. He attended the Webb School in Bell Buckle, and was a graduate of Virginia Military institute, Lexington, Va, Before his retirement he was a partner in the real estate firm of Ruekcr and Cartwright. He was married in 1908 to the former Miss Martha Hamilton. She died in llMU.

was married a second time in 1932 to the former Miss Frances Parham, who sur vives. Mr. Cartwright was a member of McKendree Methodist church. Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Peter A. Cartwright and Hamilton Cartwright; four daughters, Mrs.

Rufus Allen, Mrs Herman H'lhn, Mrs. J. B. Henderson and Mrs. John T.

Benson; a sister, Miss Eugenia Cartwricht all of Nashville, and 18 grandchil dren. Fred B. Kirtland Dies in Hospital Fred B. Kirtland, 75, of Goodletts- ville, long time employe of the Nashville Trust died last night in St. Thomas hospital after a week's illness.

Funeral arrangements were In complete last night. The body is at the home. He had been in falling health the past three months. Mr. Kirtland had been employed in the bank's trust department for 26 years.

Before that he was manager of the George C. Dury Co. six years rigo. Born in Davidson rounty, he was the son of Alvin and Mary Emma C'orbltt Kirtland. He was educated in the county schools.

His wife, the former Miss Au trusta Brengleman of Nashville survives. They were married In 1 9U4. Mr. Kirtland was an Hdpr of Woodland Street Presbyterian church. Besl'es his wife, he Is survived hv a sister, Miss Marjnrie Kirtland.
