With Clark still in Louisville after suffering a head injury in a recent game, Wolf all but disabled by a back injury and three starters out on fouls, Bellar mine finished the game with Ward and Ray Rieber at the forwards, Linneman at center and Rich Chalk and Bill Duncan at the guards. Duncan, who scored 10 points and played an outstanding floor game especially in the late going is the only usual starter.

BELLARMINE Player fi ft fla 16 9 10 13 By DENNY DRESS.MAN Courier-Jourrul Times Stiff Write' COVINGTON, Ky. It was an improbable victory. Bellarmine College, an 84-78 overtime victim of the Villa Madonna basketball forces last month in Louisville, was without injured starting center Mike Clark and got little service cut of high-scoring guard John Wolf. Then forwards Bob Albers and Dennis Newton and center Ron Belton fouled out with about 10 minutes to play. And Bellarmine won going away 80-63.

Leading Bellarmine to its fourth straight victory and its 11th of the season in 21 starts was 6-foot5 freshman John Linneman, a graduate of Cincinnati St. Xavier High who was playing before the home folks for the first time as a collegian. Linneman led both teams in scoring with 19 points and he also hauled down nine rebounds although playing only about half the game. "Linneman played a tremendous game," said Bellarmine coach Jim Spalding. "He not only scored well, but he got on the boards when we needed him.

"And Ed Ward played a fine game, Spalding added. Villa Madon na jz.y. Attendance 1 ,000. By DAVE KINDRED Courler-JeurnsI 1 Timet Stiff WriHr Cassius Clay says he doesn't miss boxing. "I'm too busy with lectures," he said last night after visiting the Sport, Boat and Vacation Show at the Kentucky State Fair and Exposition Center. But the more he talked, the more a fellow felt that Cassius Clay did, indeed, miss boxing, which he ruled invincibly before a court convicted him of evading the draft.

"I might spar with Jimmy Ellis when he starts getting ready for the title fight," Clay said, referring to the Ellis-Jerry Quarry bout coming up this spring. "I ain't proud. I could be. I could say I'm still the champ, and that sparring stuff would be too low. Keep Title in Louisville "But I want to help Jimmy win.

If he wants me to spar you know, a good sparring partner is worth a million dollars 1 will. He sparred with me, and I'd like to help him now. We want to keep the title in Louisville. Of course, me being who I am, we might have to do it in secret." Later, eyes twinkling, Clay danced down a corridor, moving with the grace that marked his fighting style, The Man From Alcatraz "Here comes the champ!" he said, mocking a radio announcer's breathless tone. "Straight from Alcatraz, weighing 225 pounds, a little overweight, Muhammad Ali.

There's $15 million in the house. Can Ali do it? Can he come back from Alcatraz? Can he whup Joe Fra-zier?" Of course, Clay has done all this before and he'll do it again. But each time, he delights in it. This is pure Clay. "Guys come up to me on the streets and they say, 'Ali, do a shuffle for us, Ali.

Man, we miss you, dancing and 'A Few Days' at Home Then, too, there is Muhammad Ali, the traveling orator. "I'm going to be here at home for a few days, then I'm going on a speaking tour of colleges with Adam Clayton Powell and Martin Luther King," he said. "Man, I go to places where only professors went before. Harvard, UCLA, California State, Tennessee State. Me, I'm i 1 1- protect his crops.

We have to protect and respect our women. "That's what I'm saying. I don't go on marches or throw rocks through windows." What about reports from Havana Radio that Clay had appeared in a Communist-supported film? And that he had demanded money from a Cuban radio man before answering questions? 'Should Have Heard Them' "No film, none at all," Clay said. "And those questions, why, you should have heard them. Did I think Eartha Kitt did the right thing? Didn't I think I was being persecuted because of my Muslim religion? Would I support the Negro boycott of the Olympics? Why didn't 1 come live in Cuba?
