Oct. Pecos Boy Killed In Truck Accident Special to The Herald-Post PECOS, Oct. Lee Billington, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. M.

L. Billington of Pecos, died instantly yesterday when he was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 80 at noontime. The accident, described unavoidable by witnesses, occured on the edge of the business section. The child had run across the street to see a young friend and was starting back when he ran into the side of the vehicle. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Several "highly promising" new drugs have been discovered and are now undergoing tests on human beings, a chemist disclosed today.

The new drugs include fungistatin and bacilloycin which, according to Dr. Peter Regna, have activity against some of the fungus diseses, such as athlete's foot. Regna said that the scientists today are broadening their search for new drugs to find agents that will go after the viruses, such as cause polio and the common cold. In a report to the American Chemical Society, Rena said "several highly promising antibiotics (drugs) which may fulfill some of the needs, have been isolated and are now being evaluated clinically. The most valuable drugs isolated in the last two years, he said, are polymyxin, Aureomycin, Chloromycetin and anti-fungal agenuts, such as fungistatin and bacillomycin.

Polymyxin has been used with success in the treatment of whooping cough, colon bacillus infections and in certain types of influenza, he said. Chloromycetin, he said, has been used in the treatment of epidemic and scrub typhus, undulant fever, pneumonia, rocky mountain spotted fever, typhoid fever and in certain urinary infections. He said that aureomycin has been useful against rickettsial diseases, eye infections, virus pneumonia, also undulant fever.
