Page 12-NAUGATIJCK NEWS (Conn,) Thursday, Junes, 19J6 Mobster Involved In Theft A mobster "hit man" was one o! four men arrested in connection with Ihe assault and robbery of a Prospect gun dealer last summer, according to Time jf**«R» Magazine. The magazine identified J Joseph Rodriguez, 32, of Bloorafield, N.J., as the person who gave details to authorities of a 1972 slaying ol Mafia boss Emmanuel (Nello) Cammarata in Florida. Rodriguez and Samuel Mastroeni Jr., 36, Yonkers, N.Y., James Hall Jr., 41, of Yonkers and Carmine Ricciardi, 31, of Edison, N.Y. have pleaded innocent in Waterbury Superior Court to charges of robbery, assault, larceny and unlawful restraint and all have asked for a jury trial. They are charged with Ihe armed robbery of Walter Westberg, 68 and Evelyn Brush, 67, in their Clark Hill Road home in Prospect on July 9,1975. Rare coins valued at $10,000 and 35 handguns valued at about $2,500 were taken at the robbery, and the brother and sister were roughed up and handcuffed at the robbery. Shots were also fired in Ihe home. Three o( the men entered the Westberg home on the pretext of delivering furnilure as a fourth waited nearby. No date has been set for the trial of the four. Hall is free on $20,000 bond, while Ricciardi and Mastroeni are being held under $20,000 bond. Time said that Rodriguez, fearful of being harmed by Ihe Mafia, implicated a New Jersey father and son in the Cani marata killing, describing precisely how the son, disguised as a jogger, shot Cammarata eight times with a .30 caliber carbine as he was leaving a North Miami restaurant. Rodriguez or the others, however, cannot be prosecuted because of a 1972 loophole in Florida law. Rodriguez, though scheduled for trial in Waterbury, is not expected lo appear in court in the near future . As Time put it: Somebody may want him— including Ihe Mafia. tn an effort to attract more foreign investment, Colombia now allows companies to remit profits of up to 14 per cent of net foreign-registered capital each fiscal year GIRL THREATENED MIDDLETOWN, Conn.
