It would he strange if a crowd as largo aB the late convention could assemble, without old friends meeting. In many eases friends met for the first time In many years, and often for the first time since they left the far east. One case in particular the reporter saw, wus one in which a gentleman who stayed over tmtil last night, learning that his old friend D. S. Gibbs was in the city, and that he is police judge of the place, repaired to the judge's office, presented himself in front of his honor with the following salutation: Are you the police judge?" Yes sir! replied his honor. "Well," Baid thu stranger, "I committed a little depredation last night, and fearing arrest, I thought best to come and give myself up, and end the matter. Can I do so?" You can, said his honor, but if you have done any damage, and the parties damaged should come andgswear out a warrant for your arrest, I would have to fine you again. What is the nature of the case? said Sir. Gibbs. The stranger began by stating that twenty-four years ago, back in Cald well, O., he knew a criminal lawyer by the name of J). 8. Gibbs, who was known as one of the leading criminal lawyers of southeastern Ohio- Hold on," said his honor, "Who are you?" Tho stranger advanced and said: "How do you do, Dennis? My name is Cornelius Archer, and it has been twenty-four years since I saw you last, etc." It was, indeed, his old friend Capt. Cornelius Archer, now a citizen of Concordia. The greeting was warm and friendly, nnd drew forth a burst of laughter and npplausc from the other gentlemen near by, who had been wondering what the strange gentleman had been doing. Mr. Archer also, met many other old friends and acquaintances here, and formed quite a warm attachment for our city and its people. Tlus Mission HmurH Kiitertiiiiiniciit. Doiifnes* Can't Ho Cured by local applications, us they cannot roach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the Inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be de stroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by cartarrh, which is nothing but an inflammed condition of the mucous surfaces. We will give One Ilundrend Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that we cannot cure by taking Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free. F. J.
