; »^m WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH Operetta Given At More School MORO — The operetta "Hansel and Gretel" was presented at the Moro School Thursday evening by the pupils. A large crowd attended the performance. Speclll musical numbers were ' presented between acts. Elmer E. Jenne. principal of the school, fell several feet from a lad der Thursday afternoon while get ting branches from a tree on the school grounds. Jenne was the first patient to use the emergency cot purchased (his spring by the PTA for use at the school. The annual school picnic will be held at the school Sunday. A bosket dinner will be served at 12:30. ! Thursday is the EdwardsviV.e school unit picnic at the American Legion Park- in Edwardsville. The parade will be in the mornirig at 9:30 and pupils here are asked to meet at the local school at 8:30. Transportation will be furnished. All pupils in the unit will march In the parade. Friday will be closing day find all pupils will report at one o'clock for their report cards. Graduating from the eighth grade are Charlotte Weinberg, Howard Uhterbrink, Marilyn • Lambert, Erma Burgess, Marilyn Dawes, Richard Helmkamp,. Thoma? Harper and Maxlne Ayres. • Other teachers in this vicinity whose school close this week are Mrs. Elmer Jenne, at Fosterburg School, Mrs. J. L. Brazier,, Acme School, Edwardsville, and J. L. Brazier, Clay School, Collinsville. Moro Presbyterian Minister Resigns MORO — A called congregational meeting was held Sunday morning at the Presbyterian Church after the worship service to act on the resignation of the pastor, the Rev. E. C. Parrish. The Rev. Parrish has accepted a call at Omro, Wis., beginning July 1. His pastorate here expires June 29. \ Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cooper will entertain the Presbyterian Young Adult group at their home Saturday evening. This is guest night and also the anniversary of their organization. The Rev. Paul Krebs of Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church, Alton, will be the speaker and will report on the meeting of the general assembly at New York City, which he attended as delegate from Alton Presbytery. The Westminster Fellowship group will sponsor a paper drive June 10. Those having paper are asked to bring it to the .church or call one of the members. The amount realized will be used toward the conference fund. Five plan to attend the conference to be held the week of June 23 at Blackburn College. ELSAH — ,Mrs. Frank Seago of Jerseyville, .lower room teacher here in the village school, will work on her degree at Shurtleff this summer. Mrs. G. L. Kirsch and family of 8255 Delmar, St. Louis, were at their summer home "Rio Vista" St. Louis avenue, Chautauqua, over the weekend. They all attended services at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Elsah, Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hadley and sons, Jimmy and Bruce, returned Sunday from Cincinnati, Ohio, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Williams and daughters over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Erbie Bryant and children. Dale, Marvin. Troy and Donna Faye, visited the former's mother, Mrs. Mary Bryant in Golden Eagle, during the weekend. Orville Denham and family of Bethalto visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Denham, Sunday. Mrs. Ruth Falkner of St. Louis was at her home here Sunday, Mrs. Natalia Gregg of Chautauqua went to St. Louis Monday to visit several days.
