TUESDAY, DECEMRER 24, l&GS THE REGISTER-NEWS MT. VERNON. ILUNOIP CIGAR FACTORIES in Havana have a political flavor with pictures of Lenin and various Castro revolutionary figures adorning work benches. ONCE THE PLAYGROUND of wealthy Cubans and foreign tourists, Varadero Beach was opened to the masses. Private homes in the area are used for schools. Here, Cubans assemble for calisthenics. Regimentation has become a hallmark of the Castro regime. SURROUNDED BY BEARDED RIFLEMEN, Castro marched to Havana after ousting strong man Batista. Guevara was killed in 1967 in Bolivia where he was leading a guerrilla force. EMBRACING COMMUNISM, Castro got comradely hug from Nikita Khrushchev when they met in 1960 at U.N.
