Here is how the Christmas basket program works here: The Register - News prints an application in the paper for seveml days, with spaces to list the name and address of needy families. The applications are mailed to the Chamber of Commerce, which serves as a clearing house so there will be no duplications in which some needy families would receive two baskets and others none, Veterans organizations, churches, service clubs and other community groups then go tc the Chamber offfice and select names from a master list. Each organization takes care of delivering the baskets Christmas eve to the names and addresses on their lists. A close check has been made to see to it that all families on the list are needy. This year 375 names were turned in and checked closely for duplication and need. So far ' arrangements have been made to deliver baskets to 340 of those families. That leaves 35.
