The program offers Government summer jobs for 10 or mor U.K. students. One or two nights a week tbey will attend seminars given by representative of various national agencies. The program has the support of Kentucky's Congressional delegation, five of whom attended the organizational meeting January 31. Governor Bert Combs and U.K.

President Frank G. Dickey have also taken an interest. Both have contacted Kentuckians holding Government positions from Army Secretary Elvis Stabr on down and asked their help. The idea is largely the brainchild of two U.K. seniors, Jim Daniel, Kuttawa, and Miss Michele "Mike" Fearing, Ashland.

Since then he has spent several summers working in the capital. Miss Fearing, an editor of The Kentucky Kernel, is handling the details and working with the university's placement office as student coordinator. Her counterpart in Washington is Miss Dianne McKaig, a U.K. law graduate now with the Department of Labor.

The placement office will begin taking applications Saturday from interested students. The program is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students majoring in commerce, diplomacy, law, agriculture, political science, or journalism. At the meetings were Representatives Frank Burke, Frank Stubblefield, William Natchcr, Carl D. Perkins, and John Watts. Representatives Brent Spence and Frank Chelf sent aides, as did Senators Thruston Morton and John Sherman Cooper.
