OCTOBER 13, 1960 THE BELLEVILLE (KANSAS) TELESCOPE SECTION BcstU Katun Huntington Bessie Katura Huntington, at the age of 69 years, two months, and seven days, passed quietly to her rest October 4, 1960, at the Rocky Mountain Hospital, Denver, where she had been a patient for some 3V4 weeks following a heart attack. She was born July 29, 1891 near Courtland, where she lived with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A.

Houghton, until the time of her marriage, moving to the Belleville community. On January 17,1914 she was united in marriage to A. T. Huntington. To this union was born one daughter, Patrica Marie Huntington of Sherman Oak, Cal.

In 1941 the Huntingtons moved to Denver, where they lived several years then moving to Li mon, residing there until the time of her parting. Surviving are one brother, Ben i Houghton, of Courtland, one i sister, Mrs. Elmer Chad, also of Courtland; her husband, daughter, and a host of relatives and friends. Memorial services were conducted by the Reverend Eugene Snyder at the Christian church in Courtland on Friday, October 7, at 2:00 p.m. and the interment was in the Courtland cemetery.

Peter C. Anderson Peter C. Anderson, son of Peter Anderson and Caroline Schmidt, was born March 21, 1879, near Copenhagen, Denmark, and passed away October 1, 1960. at the Belleville Hospital, Belleville, at the age o'f 81 years. He received his education in the Belleville Public Schools.

He moved to this community when about three years old and has lived here most of his life here except while he was with the State of Kansas Fish and Game Department at Minneaolis, Kan. On August 31, 1914, he as united in marriage to Miss Maude Mather of Norton. He was a member of the Lutheran church and Belleville Lodge No. 129 A.F. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two sisters, Mrs.

Andrea Darby and Mrs. Harrell. Survivors include his wife, Maude Anderson and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Goosman, both of Belleville. BURCAIN TRAIL Harvest Festival Queen Candidates These 13 girls, all farm girls or active 4-H members, are candidates for Harvest Festival Queen in Belleville this Friends have been voting for one of the girls at Belleville stores this week.

The Queen will be crowned at the Harvest Festival Dance by Miss Kansas Saturday night. MARJORIE BLECHA BETTY CLARK LINDA BEYER union was bom one daughter, Cecelia. Most of his life he lived on a farm in this community. In 1940 he moved to Belleville and operated the Belleville Hotel for almost nineteen years. He retired from the Hotel business three years ago and resideo at the home on 1507 18th Street.

He spent a great deal of time out of doors and was preceded in death by his parents, brothers amd sisters. Hs is survied by his wife, Agnes of the home, one daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Rizek of Belleville, three nieces, five nephews and a host of tives and friends.

Recitation of the Rosary was held at Tibbetts Bros. Memorial Chapel Saturday and Sunday evenings and funeral services were conducted Monday morning, October 3, I960, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Belleville. Requiem High Mass was sung by The Very Rev.

Msgr. C. J. Brown officiating. Interment' was made in the St, Josaphat's cemetery.

Glenn Joseph Nickerson Glenn Joseph Nickerson, son tit Emma and Charles Nickerson, was born March 18, 1896, at Mc- Phorson, Kansas, and passed sway at Talmo, being "64 years 6 months, and 12 days. He received his education in the Hebron, schools. He moved to this community around five years ago. As a child he joined the Methodist church in Hebron. Preceding him in death are his father and mother, a niece and a nephew.

Surviving him are two brothers, Clarence of Morehead, and Frank of Belleville; three stepsisters, Mrs. Harry Shields of Mrs. Norbert Mit- Itasch of Modesto, and Mrs. I Alfred Cowden of Ottawa; one step-brother, TuUy Miller of Artisa, N. three nieces and four friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend Maurice Graham at the Bachelor Faulkner Dart I Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 5, at two o'clock and the interment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Norway. pa.sscd Monday, September 12 at his home in Wichita. Ho was born in Oslo, Norway, on 12, 1888. He came to tliis country at the age of 19 and lived at Scandia until moving to Wichita 18 years ago. Mr. Bentsen was employed by Borbein Young and automotive parts company, twelve years before his retirement in 1955.

He attended North Wichita Friends Church. He was a member of the Scan- dnvian Club and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Scandia and the American Legion. at the Methodist Church in Haddam, with the Rev. Kenard Clark, officiating. Interment was in the National Cemetery south of Narka. Cornelius John Jacobson CorneUus John Jacobson, son of John C. and Julia June Jacobson, was born in Langness, Germany, May 14, 1881.

After a shrt illess he departed this life at the Belleville Hospital on 30, 1960, at the age of 79 years, 4 montw 16 days. After his mother passed away, he came to the States at the age of seven, with his father, brother and his youngest sister. He made; his home with his oldest sister eight years near Avoca, Then came to Kansas in 1906. He was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Levendofske on February 21. 1911, at St.

Petr Drapal of Cuba and George Urban of Bison are great-grandparents. Frank Snodgrass, Anaheim, and five grandchildren. F'uneral services were held Wednesday, September 14 at North Wichita, Friends Church in Wichita. The Rev. Alden Pitts, pastor of the church, officiated.

Interment was made in the Old Mission Cemetery. Chester Hill Chester Hill, son of Andy and Rosa Hill, was born near Belleville, Kan. in 1882. He passed I away at Nelson, Neb. September i27, 1960.

He was married in 1904 to Stella Cardwell. To this union one son was born, James Hill. Later he married Eva Bowersox. To this union four children were born, Billy, Beryl, Slyvia and Vernon. Most of his life was spent in the Belleville community, except for the last twenty years, which he lived in Hardy, Neb.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, one son and two stepsons. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Eva, three sons, Jim of; Belleville, Vernon of Superior, Beryl of Lincoln, and one daughter Sylvia of Denver, also one; stepson. Bob Bowersox of Hast- 1 ings, one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ralph! i Sporleder of Goodland, and grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Hardy, and burial in the Belleville Cemetery.

Re: public county, Kan. on August 10, 1883 and passed away on October 5, 1960, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville after a short illness cri three days. John had reached the age of 77 years, 1 month and 25 days at the time of his.
