A four-engine transport plane with all of its propellers rotating backward made a controlled descent from 15,000 to 1,000 feet in 1 minute 22 seconds here today in the first public demonstration of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation's new reversible propellers. The plane started its descent just four miles from the airport. The maximum rate of descent in standard multiengine transport and military aircraft is 3.000 to 4.000 feet a minute. At this rate of "let down" the plane's speed is usually in excess of 300 miles an hour and because the angle of descent is shallow, the distance from beginning of "let down" to airport is considerably more than four miles. The new reversible propellers are actually "air brakes" for multiengine planes in flight and on the ground.

Aviation experts see in their application to commercial air transport and military flying greater safety and economy and perhaps a speeding up of air-line service in feeding planes into crowded airports. The airplane used in today's demonstration before several Monument Dealers In Kentucky to Organize About 40 Kentucky monument dealers will meet at the Brown Hotel at 10 a.m. Friday to form the Kentucky Monument Dealers Association. Since his return from the United Nations conference in Paris eight days ago, Marshall has declined to give any indication of his plans. Truman has expressed the hope, however, that he would remain as Secretary of State. The State Depart merit said Marshall will undergo "further tests and examinations" at the Army's Walter Reed Hospital. A spokesman told reporters that as far as he knows, the visit is only for another physical check-up such as Marshall received last June. Will Be 69 Dec.

Also at Walter Reed Hospital, Marshall's chief United Nations aide, Warren R.

Austin, underwent an operation today which was described as "satisfactory." Austin returned from Paris earlier this month.
