Long fibre Canadian Crysotile Asbestos only goes into Rusco! This is the world's best. Why does he do it? Because It Is truly a "he-man's" sport; and Durant is a "he-man" in spite of the fact that be Is one of the outstanding millionaires of the Golden state. Durant makes his chief bid tor fame in the annual 500-mile classic on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Five DUMA times before he has crossed the continent to compete with the cream of the auto racing profession in the great Indianapolis thriller. Cliff Durant is a regular follow and there never was a more popular driver heralded on the Indianapolis Speedway than this California millionaire on the eve of his sixth attempt to capture the great blue ribbon classic of the speed game, the $50,000 international sweepstakes. Twice Durant has seen one of his entries finish second on the brick course of the Hoosier metropolis, but he is intent on winning, the great 500-mile event before he gives up the perilous pastime of the Speedway.

Back in 1919 Dunant and Eddie Hearne came to Indianapolis for the 500-mile race and Hearne finished second In one of Durant's entries. Last year Harry Hartz took second place to Tommy Milton in one of Durant's entries. For the average contender these two near victories would be Jfe 4 'W enough, but Durant is intent on winning the race, not merely having one of his drivers win it, but actually winning it himself against a field of the greatest race demons ever mustered for a aDeed battle. Last year Durant led the field for a time. This was enough to prove that the California millionaire wniriwinci on wheels" can drive the Indianapolis course.

Had he not met with itrnltlon trouble and lost twenty-two laps early in the race it is almost certain tnat the score sheet would have had a different story to tell after the finish. Durant is truly a veteran of the race erame. Back in the clays of the "Cac tus Derby" the gruelling Is Angeles to Phoenix desert road race Cliff Durant engraved his name on the tablets of Western racing history. In the historic Santa Monica events the Van derbilt cup and grand prize races Cliff Durant won international lame as a king of road drivers. With a record of belter than eighty-two miles an hour a mark that still stands he won the last of the Santa Monica road EDDIE HEARNE.

On the Tacoma speedway In the state of Washington, Durant also scored sensational victories, ana ne him taken the' victor's wreath In gaso line duels 'staged on the dirt tracks of California and Arizona many times. The Corona road course was another 'HAKfltAItTZ. So Cliff Durant is a grizzled knight nf the oDen throttle who plays the CLIFF DURANT IN HIS $25,000 DURANT i HE Automotive Industry today owes much to' the achievements of the Master Builder, W.

C. Durant and the cars that bear his nameplates now are more than "Just Real Good Cars" Car Demonstrated at Your Convenience game of speed for the love pf the sport a lone. On two occasions Durant has put a racing team on the Speedway that has ben acclaimed the finest of racing cars ever rolled onto a race course under one man's ownership. Twice this California millionaire has spent more money on a flotilla of speedsters than Jt costs to put the Yale football team In the field; but he has always been a member of the team himself and has tsken the same risks, that his drivers, Eddie Hearne, Harry Hartz, Jimmy fcurphy, Fred Comer, Earl Cooper, Jerry Wonderlich, Dario Resta and Others have taken. It has always been one of Durant's strict rules never to ask any associate or employe to do something that he would not do himself.

Therefore he has always driven as a member of his own racing team. Other Wealthy Racers. In the days gone by there have been many fellows of much worldly goods who have tempted fate as pilots of racing automobiles. Spencer Wishart, David Bruce-Brown, Caleb Bragg, Frank Croker and the notorious slacker king, Grover Cleveland Berff. doll were among these.

Today there are only two drivers who are heralded as "men of much wealth." These two are Joseph Boyer Jr. and Cliff Durant. But Durant outranks all the speed men of wealth both past and present, so far as financial standing goes. In his "early thirties," this young speed merchant has, by his own effort, amassed a fortune that runs well into the millions. Sanders- Co.
