WILDLIFE REFUGE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS old charts of the Detroit River, you can see Mamaju- da Island off the north end of Grosse Ile. Though Mamajuda disappeared beneath the waters decades ago, itstill exists as a shoal just below the surface, and it takes an annual toll on the propellers and hulls of careless boaters. I also have seen muskrats and mink in the river, and though a few readers claim to have seen otters there, confirm that. Lanier said that volunteers usually worked four-hour shifts, we like to schedule them at least two days a maintenance and office Lanier said, work on their own schedules and usually put in more For more information, attend the wildlife refuge volunteer workshop at the center at 2700 Westfield in Trenton, or call 734-692-7649.
