He succeeds Jim cGrath, who is retiring at the end of this month after serving as sports information director for 34 years. Dedman was assistant SID at Butler from 2003-06. Since then he has worked for the Indiana Sports Corporation, most recently as vice president of communications. He was part of the bid team that rought the 2012 Super Bowl to Indianapolis and helped oversee media operations at multiple events in Olympic ports and NCAA tournament basketball. Dedman graduated magna cum laude from Butlerand received the Garlick Award for sports journalism.

HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Oriole wins discus, shot put at regional Ric Burrous ric.burrous@indystar.com The Marion County Athletic Association has selected its City and County Senior Athletes of the Year. Athletic achievement is the primary determination with multisports athletes given consideration over those playing one sport but academic and personal acc omplishments are also considered. County Female Athlete of the Year: Reilly Martin, Brebeuf Martin lettered all four years in soc- er and was recognized as first team all- state as a sophomore and senior years. She has been a member of the US soccer national team program at the U20, U18 and U15 age group levels, a 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School All American, an NSCAA All-Region Team in 2012 and was named the 2014 Gatorade Indiana Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Martin also owns the school season records with 29 goals and 27 assists, as well as the career marks of 65 goals and 62 assists.

She was first team academic all- state her junior and senior seasons. She as a first team all-Marion County her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. During her four years the girls soccer team won two Marion County champi- nships, four sectional titles and a re- ional title. She has a 3.87 grade point a verage. Martin plans to study Pre-Med at Michigan while continuing to play occer.

County Male Athlete of the-Year: Tommy Stevens, Decatur Central tevens played football, basketball and baseball, though best known as a quarterback. He was named all conference and all county for two years, while also being named all-state as a junior and senior by the Indiana Football oaches Association. He was named to the Super Team. Stevens ushed for 1,618 yards and 17 touchdowns in two seasons and passed for 3,398 yards and 29 touchdowns with only 8 interceptions. He led the Hawks an average of 36.8 points in those two easons.

In one game, Stevens rushed 2 7 times for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns, and passed for 220 yards and a touchdown. He also saw time on defense and as a punter. Stevens is already enrolled at Penn State, where he will lay football and study business. City Female Athlete of the Year: A nna Logan, Bishop Chatard Logan lettered for four years in volleyball, basketball and track. She was a key player on volleyball teams that won state, was state runner-up and reached semistates.

She is the Trojans all-time eader in kills, second in blocks and ixth in digs. In basketball she is the all-time leader in blocks, rebounds, and shooting percentage, finished one point shy of setting the scoring record and is fifth in steals. In track, she won three City discus titles, a sect ional and a regional, and will compete i her second state meet this week. She ad a 4.02 grade point average and will play volleyball and study marketing at Butler. Male Athlete of the Year: Brian Ball, Bishop Chatard all lettered three times in football and baseball, and twice in basketball.
