Nov. champion Michigan, third place Minnesota and Illinois, tied for fifth in the Western Conference grid race, were the only teams to place more than one player on the all Big Ten football team selected for the United Press by conference coaches. The Wolverines, who shared the crown with Ohio State, and Minnesota each placed three men while Illinois landed two stars in the lineup.

Rose Bowl bound Ohio State placed only one man, Fullback Fred Morrison, but four Buckeyes made the second all conference team. OTHER SCHOOLS to place men on the honor eleven were Northwestern, with Quarterback Don Burson and Wisconsin with End Bob Wilson. Michigan players who made the team were All American Tackle Alvin Wistert. Guard Lloyd Hene- vcld and Halfback Chuck Ortmann, while Minnesota had three exceptional linemen. All American Center Clayton Tonnemaker, All American Tackle Leo Nomellini and End Harry "Bud" Grant.

Illinois' two representatives were Guard Chuck Gottfried and Halfback Johnny Karras. Every coach in the conference picked Wilson, who defensive center and offensive end, for the first team.
