Mrs. Be- 2:30 Faughn Rallying Point For Murray Strangers By DAVID C. ADAMS Courier and Times Staff Writer Program sales ought to sky-rocket at Murray State University this season, even if the Racer football program doesn't get off the ground. There are so many new faces around Cutchan Stadium, these days that head coach Don must be temped to spend the first 10 minutes at practice just introducing strangers. But the football Racers don't intend to be "strangers in the night" when the whistle sounds.

Shelton and his stafffeaturing three new assistants- have an experienced backfield. And they have a talented tailback in Don Faughn, a home grown triple-threat Part of a series. Ex-Umpire UPTON, Mass. Summers, 70, who fighting to become a some 40 years, died American 1933 until he retired worked in eight World All-Star games. Summers Dies (AP) -William R. switched from prize baseball umpire for yesterday. League umpire from in 1959, Summers Series and seven Miller to Speak Tonight Paulie Miller, an assistant football coach at the University of Louisville, will be the speaker at a dinner meeting of the Transportation Club of Louisville tonight at the Kentucky Hotel.

The dinner starts at 6:30. Racer career record of 31 touchdown passes. Forrest claims the three-year total offensive record of 3,475 yards. Thomason, a senior who transferred from Virginia Tech, can't reach either record but he's scimpressed Racer, coaches as a more passer than his predecessors. The Racers also have a dangerous long passer in letterman Larry Tillman.

Last year, Murray led the Ohio Valley Conference when it had 20 passes intercepted. Croom, an all-stater at Paducah Tilghman, is playing linebacker. "He'll be more valuable to us playing one way," said Shelton. Croom had played offense. Croom teamed with middle guard Carl Chipman, tackle Mallory and end Mike Rhodes in Saturday's scrimmage when the defensive flashed signs of coming of age.

The secondary is experienced but there's some question how much it benefited from yielding 305 yards per game last year. The ringleader is safety Bill Green "who hasn't had a bad practice yet," according to Shelton. Like Morehead coach Guy Penny, Shelton is stocked so well with first-year talent he plans an abbreviated freshman schedule. Associated Press Stars of the Twins TONY OLIVA (left) and Jim Kaat of the Minnesota Twins have been two of the top stars in the American League this year. Oliva is seeking his third straight batting title, while Kaat is the winningest pitcher in baseball with 23 victories.
