11 in St. Christopher Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Calling will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 in Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. He died Feb. 8. He coached the Ben Davis cadet football team 15 years, losing just three games. He was a former president of Wayne Township youth league football, had coached girls youth basketball and was a basketball coach for St.

Christopher Catholic Church. A member of the Speedway High School varsity basketball team, he once held the scoring record in Marion County and was named to the 1962 Indiana AllStar basketball team. He went on James Richard "Dick" Acton 75, Branson, MO. formerly of Lebanon, died Feb. 5.

9 Harold F. Archer age 73 years, Indianapolis, passed away February 7, 2003 after an extended illness. Harold was born April 4, 1929 to Raymond and Meryle Cooper Archer. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1949 and attended Butler University and Lincoln Bible Institute in Lincoln, IL. He then became a trooper for the Indiana State Police obtaining the rank of sergeant before retiring with 20 years of service in 1974.

He then worked for Allied Fidelity Insurance Co for 15 years and Osco Drugs for 6 years. Mr. Archer was a member of Englewood Christian Church and a former member of Fleming Garden Christian Church. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Pioneers of Indiana State Police. He is survived by his wife, Betty M.

Ketrow Archer; children, Cindy K. Newgent, Harold Wayne Archer, Tammy L. Archer, Pamela J. Yeater, Kelly I. Newkirk; brother Joseph D.

Archer; sisters, Maxine Ward and Helen E. Voelkel; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Debbie Hall. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m.

Mildred Bates 89, died Friday, February 7, 2003, at her Indianapolis residence. She was born January 8, 1914, in Crawford Co. Indiana. Her parents were Joe and Opal (Batchelor) Riley. She married Carl Bates.

"Had we had the 3-point shot in the early '60s, there is no telling how many points he would have scored," Mr. O'Neal's former high school basketball coach, Morris Pollard, told The Indianapolis Star on Saturday.

Mr. O'Neal attended the University of Notre Dame on a full basketball scholarship, graduating in 1966. Mr. O'Neal spent the past year as a stockbroker for RCI. Previously, he was a stockbroker for various companies.

Mr.

Craven was born on May 8, 1915 in Henry County, Indiana, a son of the late John C. and Ruth E. (Scovell) Craven. He was a greatgreat-grandson of the founder of Knightstown Waitstill Munson Cary. Mr.

Craven was a Purdue alumni, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 8, 1947 he married Ann V. McBee who preceded in death on June 6, 1986. Mr.

Craven was a member of the Knightstown Methodist Church, The Scottish Rite and Shrine in Indianapolis, and the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity for over 50 years. He was a member of the Knightstown Masonic LodgeGolden Rule No. 16. He was also a member of the Elks B.P.O.E. in Sarasota, Florida.

Mr. Craven had received the "Little 50" Award in 1959 by the Little 50 Club of Knightstown and was named Outstanding Sanitarian in 1979 for outstanding contributions in the field of Public Health. Prior to his retirement he was in management and was a sales consultant in Dairy and FoodLand Development and Indiana Public Health. From 1928 to 1942 he assisted his father in the operation of the Craven's Dairy located on the Greensboro Pike near Knightstown which is currently the location of the Royal Hylands Golf Course and The Old Hoosier House Bed and Breakfast. Former offices he had held include: All offices in the 4-H in Henry County.

Davis 93, Indianapolis, died Feb. 4, 2003. She began working for the Stokely Family in Louisville; she worked as a Manager for Mr. W.B. Stokely in Indianapolis.

She was also selfemployed as a Caterer for many years. She was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she assisted senior citizens and helped with the meals. Services: 1 p.m. Feb. 10 with calling from 11 a.m.

William Robert Kelly 71, of Southern Pines, NC, also a resident of Culver, IN, died Friday February 7, 2003 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2003 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Fathers Jeffrey Largent and Jeffrey Ingham officiating concelebrating. The family will be receiving friends at their home following the service.

Born September 28, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana, he was a son of the late John F. and Katherine W. Kelly. A son, Sean, preceded him in death. Mr.

Kelly retired as president of Bituminous Material Company, Inc. In 1971 he was president of the Indiana Constructors where in 1981 he received the Presidents Trophy and in 2001 was named a Life member. He was a longtime advocate and id pioneer for improved asphalt pavement and materials. He was twice honored, once by Governor Ed Whitcomb and once by Governor Frank O'Bannon, with the Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest award bestowed by the Governor of Indiana. He was currently serving on Engineering Advisory Council at the University of Notre Dame as well as the Board of Directors of the United Way of Moore County.

He formerly served as president of Sandhills Children's Center Board of Directors as well as on the Boards of the Foundation of the Sandhills Community College, Joseph of the Pines, and the O'Neal School. Both Forest Creek Country Club and Country Club of North Carolina will miss him as a member. Mr. Kelly attended St. Mary's of the Lake in Culver, IN and Joseph of the Pines.

He loved to travel especially with his family at Christmas time. He enjoyed snorkeling all over the world forever searching for the perfect He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janie Kelly; two sons, Kevin Kelly- and wife Marijo of Granger, IN, Tim Kelly and wife Deenie of Saginaw, MI; daughter, Laura Kite and husband Lindon of Southern Pines; two brothers, Thomas L. Kelly of Terre Haute, IN and Joseph P. Kelly of Saginaw, MI; six grandchildren, Kristen, Megan, Colleen, Sean and Stone Kelly and Wil Kite. She was the widow of George Lincoln Lewis. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her Gregory L. Lewis and wife, Josephine of Oak Park, Illinois and her two granddaughters Emma and Claire. Private internment in Crown Hill Mausoleum.

6, 2003. She was school librarian 22 years for Hamilton Heights High School Corporation, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Gwinn was a member of Association of Indiana Media Educators. She was a graduate of Berea College and Butler University.

Survivors include husband John Kenneth Gwinn; daughters Kate Stroup, Libby Gwinn-Thomas; granddaughter Jennifer Plummer; grandsons Tony Stroup and Bryan C. English; sister (Peggy) Howell; brother Ed Pickett. preceded in death by sisters Nellie Skillern, Belle Pickett, Nora Thomas; brothers Fred and Louis Pickett. Arrangements handled by Conkle Funeral Home Hendricks County Chapel, Avon. 74, died Friday, February 7, 2003, in Beech Grove.

She was a resident of Indianapolis. She was born February, 13, 1928 in Wabash County, IL. Her parents were James P. and Bessie Gertrude (Yates) Strine. She married Carson Reed on April 1, 1945.

He servives. Survivors include a son, James Carson Reed of Mt. Carmel, a daughter, Darla Gard of Indianapolis; two sisters, Shirley Chapman and Vera Lankford of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, one step grandchild; and 10 great-grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Strine. She was employed for 40 years as a Home Nurse Caregiver.

She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Rev. Asa Gillespie will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel.

46278. Ralph W. Reynolds 90, formerly of Indianapolis, died Feb. 7, 2003. He was a graduate of Purdue University.

He retired as chief engineer for Holcomb Hoke Manufacturing Company, Indianapolis, in 1978. Ralph is survived by his wife Marjorie and children William R. (Frances) Reynolds, Joellen J. (Peter) Lippett, Jonathan P. (Priscilla) Reynolds.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. Mon. Feb. 10 in JohnsonDanielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, 1100 N. Michigan Plymouth.
