The State Department said it was informed by Chinese authorities that foreign diplomats are required to leave China when they are involved in a death.

According to U.S. officials, the incident involved Nicholas Piatt, 37, who they said was driving his visiting parents to the Ming tombs when the girl, riding a bicycle, swerved in front of his car. A U.S. consulate official in Hong Kong said the incident occurred Nov. 25.

The girl's family was given more than $10,000 by Piatt's insurance company. INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum has reported 347,266 visitors to the Truman grave site since it was opened to the public Dec. 29, 1972.

i I Services for Dr. Charles Groshon Gunn, 86, a leader in the Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, were held Wednesday at Waynesboro, Va. Dr. Gunn, who lived at Waynesboro, was a graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. His first pastorate was in Jackson, where he oversaw the building of the Guerrant Memorial Presbyterian Church.

He was pastor of Louisville's First Presbyterian Church from 1943 to 1948. He also held pastorates in South Carolina, Missouri, West Virginia and Arkansas. During World War Dr. Gunn served as executive secretary of the War Work Council of the national Presbyterian Church and saw overseas duty as a chaplain with the Rainbow Division. He had also served as moderator of the Synod of West Virginia and moderator of the Presbytery of Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, the former Eliza Woodside; three sons, Charles G. Gunn of Winston-Salem, N.C., the Rev. George W. Gunn, of Atlanta, and Dr. James W.

Gunn, of Peekskill, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. J. Sidney Langrall, of Waynesboro, and 14 grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Waynesboro Weekday Religious Education Council in 'care of Waynesboro's First Presbyterian Church. Blume defends effort to remove press at Capitol Associated Press FRANKFORT, Ky.

House Speaker Norbert Blume said yesterday that his bill to remove the press corps from the third floor of the Capitol is motivated solely by the legislative and public interest. "There isn't any vendetta or quarrel with the press," he said. The Louisville Democrat also said he may ask to lift the emergency clause from House Bill 1 which, if left attached would make the measure effective immediately on final passage. Otherwise, the date of implementation would be in June. Blume's bill would allow the legislative branch, rather than the executive, to control space on the third and fourth floors of the Capitol.

The Russellville News-Democrat and some other weekly newspapers contend that neither the public nor the legislature would be served by the measure. They said the setup now provides easy access between lawmakers and reporters, efficiency of news operations and protection of "the people's right to know." But Blume said none of these advantages would be forfeited if his bill is approved. "I find it hard to understand why there is so much insistence that the press be on the same floor as the General Assembly," he said. "My only reason (for this) is that we must have more space." Blume said reporters would have the same access to legislators in any other location. Except for WAVE-TV of Louisville, no press-row members has publicly criticized the plan to use press space for legislative purposes.

The Courier-Journal and The Louisville Times have moved their staffs to a house near the Capitol. The Louisville papers have a table, typewriters and telephones in the Capitol for the legislative session. Blume indicated that he is not satisfied with the Louisville newspapers' stand alluding to a recent "lukewarm" editorial. "We expected them to come out with a hearty endorsement in view of their past editorials on the legislature's problems on lack of space," he said. Blume's bill will come before the House State Government Committee next week.

Agency wants meat labels to support claims Associated Press WASHINGTON Claims that a meat or poultry product is high in nutritional value have to be substantiated on the label under regulations proposed yesterday by the Agriculture Department. Meat and poultry processors also would have to tell consumers about any nutritional boosters that are added. Labeling would be voluntary, under the proposal, for products not claimed to be highly nutritious or containing added vitamins, minerals or proteins. The proposal, open for public comment until April 19, follows an earlier nutrition label action by the Food and Drug Administration for other food products The effective date, Dec. 31, 1974, would be the same for both labeling plans.

An example of a meat or poultry product that would fall under the mandatory rule is one advertised to be high in protein, officials said. Exempted from mandatory labeling are products containing nutrients added for technological reasons as part of the curing process. They would have to be listed, as currently, in an ingredient statement somewhere on the label. Under the proposal, information also would include the size of serving, number of servings per package and the amount of calories, proteins, carbohydrates and fat.
