Alternate routes revealed for road at Pewee Valley Protectors of the peace and quiet of Oldham County community of Pewee "Valley are encouraged these days. Highway Department planners Jiave added two new alternative routes to their list of possibilities for a connector road between Interstate-71 and the' Jefferson Freeway, and one bypasses Pewee Valley on the west.

-When citizens of the community first heard of the proposed road last summer, -the three routes being considered for the four-lane, limited-access highway all 'passed close to Pewee Valley on the east. Ctitics of the project complained that the. favored route would cut through several estates on the eastern city limits. though the highway is still in the planning stage and a public hearing on it' is months away, critics of the project continued to voice their opposition. In a Jan.

26 meeting with new Highway -Goriimissioner Charles Pryor opponents of the road learned of the new alternatives. One is an almost straight line connector running west of Pewee Valley from the 1 interchange with KY 329 to the Jefferson Freeway intersection with La Grange Road. "'The other would lead from KY 329 near the 1-71 interchange to La Grange Road at the east city limits of Pewee Valley, then use a widened portion of La Grange Road to reach the freeway. Highway officials say a connector road is needed before population increases overtaj the two-lane roads in the area. GREGORY, Whitney Sr.
