The New York Times NEW YORK Warren Steibel, producer and director of the television program Firing I Line, whose host was the conservative commentator William F. Buckley died Jan. 3 in Manhattan. He was 76 and lived in Manhattan.

The cause was liver cancer, said Frances Bronson, a longtime aide to Buckley. The program, distributed to PBS stations for most of its run, began in 1966 and was broadcast weekly for 33 years. Steibel was its director for most of the first several years and was its producer and 1 director concurrently for the remaining years. His work won him an Emmy Award. A native New Yorker, Steibel grew up in Manhattan and held degrees from the University of California and Columbia University.

BARBARA ANN O'DONNELL KEATING, 67, Indianapolis, died Jan. 19. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sunnyside Guild and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.

Snowfall still below normal despite Saturday's blanket: Staff Report Hoosiers in central Indiana awoke Saturday to find a dusting of snow covering their yards, cars and rose bushes but still not enough to bring the area anywhere near the usual snowfall for this time of year. As of 1 p.m., the National Weather Service had recorded 1.9 inches of snow, leaving the middle of the state about 8 inches below normal for this time of year, according to Phil Gray, a weather service spokesman. But the snow was just enough to snarl traffic. Many police agencies reported a flurry of minor, accidents, most involving cars sliding off the road. The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department reported as many as eight cars were involved in a minor accident in Avon.

In Indianapolis, 72 salt, trucks were dispatched to eliminate, slick spots. State Police said road crews spread salt and sand on overpasses and other slick spots throughout the state, concentrating on major interstates and highways.
