At a largely attended meeting of the baseball fans of this city which was held at the Windsor Hotel last night it was decided to place a strong professional baseball club on the field for the remainder of the season. Nine members of the Lawrenceville club of Pittsburgh which played the local team on Tuesday afternoon were signed last night, while Nittrow and Trimble, both local boys, were also signed. Mr.

M. L. Kelly of Pittsburgh, who has managed the Lawrenceville club for the last sixteen years was signed as manager and he stated to the reporter of the Republican that he would give Kane one of the fastest clubs in their history. He also stated that he had wired for pitcher Roberts of Pittsburgh who shut the Meadville club out by a score of 3 to 0 at Meadville last week. Kelly also stated that he would give every local player a chance to make the club that could show good playing ability.

Now that the ball has finally been started a-rolling it is up to every citizen in the town to support the club, as one of the best ads that a town ever had is a first-class baseball club. Ridg: way, Johnsonburg and many other towns in this section have supported good baseball clubs all season and Kane fans surely will not be backward in supporting a good team for the remainder of the season. The team will open their season tomorrow afternoon when Manager Kelly has secured the strong Johnsonburg club as the opening attraction against the new Kane team. On the John, sonburg lineup tomorrow will be a number of old time Shea, Dick Clark, Clyde Eckert, besides outfielder Smith who Kane fans will remember played with 'Bradford in the Inter-State League. professional players on the Johnsonburg team are shortstop Um- lauff who played last season with York in the Tri-State League, Catcher Bassler who played last season (with Sunbury in the Susquehanna League, Second baseman Warrens I who played this season with the 'Pittsburgh United States League, 'and Pitcher Brennan who played the 'last two seasons with the Harrisburg Tri-State League team.

DEATH ENDS THE PAINS OF FIRE VICTIM Seven-year-old Adrian Boy, Horribly Burned, Died in Hospital. Tony, the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Cobuck, foreign residents of Adrian, died at 11 o'clock yesterday morning In the Adrian hospital of terrible burns received on Monday when a lamp exploded at the Cobuck home.

Monday evening the boy was left alone for a few minutes, his mother being at a neighbor's house. A few minutes after leaving she, with others heard the child scream in agony and fright and, rushing Into the home found the clothing of tbe little fellow burning fleroely. The blate was quickly extinguished, but not, however, until the flesh of the little one had been burned almost to a crisp about the body, arms and hands, that he had Inhaled the flames is the belief of the physicians who were In attendance. The explosion of an oil lamp or the upsetting of one brought death to the boy. The child was taken to the Adrian hospital Immediately after the accident, and death ended hie sufferings.

Atlanta, July Daisy Uulrich Opie Grace, the Philadelphia woman who is accused of trying to her husband, Eugene H. Grace, in this city, today expressed confidence of her acquittal at her trial, which will open next Monday.

"Within ten days I will be a free woman," she said. "Then the stigma of this horrible charge will be cleared from my name." She was told her husband, who is paralyzed below the hips as a result of the bullet which struck his spine, expected to appear against her in court. "I certainly hope he will be at the trial," she said, "for if he is there I will be sure he is much stronger than the reports that come from his bedside seem to indicate. He knows better than anyone that I did not shoot him." Grace is still at the home of his mother, Mrs. S.
