He is quiet and subdued, a little plump; but he has flashing blue eyes with a merry twinkle in them. Ace is the brother who goes with the stock when it is on location. His natural easy, calm manner is fine for a spooked nag, and he can quiet down an excited horse with a pat and a word.

When a company needs horses for an episode, the story line is discussed with the Hudkins brothers. Depending on the needs of the yarn, they work out how many and what kinds of animals are required. The charge is made at so much per horse, except in the cases of outstanding animals that get "above scale." 1 TT The show is carried on WHAS radio Mondays through Fridays from 11:05 to 11:15 a.m. Skate at the Fairgrounds or the Jefferson County Armory ICE SKATES FOR THE FAMILY Fine Quality Low Priced Top Grade Leather Canadian Blades Service Alt WORK GUARANTIED CLAUKSI) RADIO JU 5-5292 WE HAVE PARTS for WARM MORNING HEATERS RADIANTS FOR CAS HEATERS FURNACE FILTERS A WIDE ASSORTMENT OF SPRINGS VALVE HANDLES FOR GAS RANGES MAGIC CHEF PARTS STOVE PIPE -ELBOWS PARTS FOR PRESTO WEAREVER AND MIRRO-MATIC COOKERS GEHER SON -v 215 W. Br The AMoriated Prrse NEW YORK, Jan. months ago, Gisele Mackenzie realized a dream of many years when she visited Venice fQr three days. Singing gondoliers plied the canals with their freight of lov-ing couples; pigeons swarmed in San Marco Square; the bells raised their hourly clamor. Miss Mackenzie sat alone in her expensive hotel, where American tourists watched her guardedly and whispered to one another, "There's Gisele Mackenzie." After a day of Miss Mackenzie watching Venice while Venice watched her, she went out and hailed the first gondolier she i saw for a three-hour ride. He doubled his price and took her along.

But he refused to sing for her. So She Sang So, as she rode the canals of Venice alone, Miss Mackenzie sang to her gondolier. I Except that she is not a I lonely girl, that story tells quite a bit about Miss Mackenzie: gregariously inclined, yet a trifle shy; moderately venturesome, uraritw ejilf cone, nf II HI It ovil I vim ni humor, and always readiness 10 sing. Those qualities are apparent in "The Gisele Mackenzie Show" (Channel 3, Saturdays at 8:30 p.m.), which originates live from Hollywood. "I think one of the most important things about the show is that all of us on it have a good time," Gisele said on a brief visit to New York.

"If that comes across, then it's to be expected that the home audience has a good time, too." Ao Worrying Whatever the audience-rating ups and downs of her program, Miss Mackenzie refuses to worry. "My job is to sing and entertainnot worry," she says. As with every television variety show, Miss Mackenzie's program has its biggest problem in obtaining guests who have more than the proverbial one talent. A singer must do more than simply sing; a man must do more than stand up and tell a joke. "A performer has to perform and move with us," she said.

Having your own weekly musical variety show on television is a burden, no matter how determined you are not to worry. 'Best Training1 "Perhaps my biggest asset is that I have a strong stomach," Miss Mackenzie said. "I can take a grind. I had the best training in the world for it during four years of appearing every week on 'Your Hit Nothing can take the place of that." As do many women, Miss Mackenzie finds her greatest relaxation in shopping. "It doesn't have to be Christmas," she said.

"Every Monday, I take the time off to go shopping. For what? Anything. Clothing, perfume, gadgets I don't care what it is, I just like to get out and rush from store to store. Maybe the biggest fun in it is simply spending money." Miss Mackenzie spent the Christmas holidays in her native Winnipeg, Canada, with her parents, I)r. and Mrs.

George Mackenzie la Heche. Born Gisele Marie Louise Marguerite la Fleche, she started studying the violin at the age of 7. After somebody stole her violin, valued at several thousand dollars, she turned to singinga decision neither she nor many others ever regretted. V. S.

Citizen She became a featured singer for the Canadian Broadcasting Company, and caught the ear of American listeners. Moving to this country several years ago, she became an American citizen and adopted her fathers middle name. When a telephone call came to her in Toronto offering her the big break a spot on the Bob Crosby Show she cried: "I'm all packed, I'm ready to still ready and still going. For nearly that length of time, Ace and his brother Clyde have been furnishing horses to movie and now television studios. They own the Hudkins Brothers Stables in North Hollywood. They started in business In 1931 with "almost nothing," according to Ace. Now the brothers have 200 head of stock, and can furnish as many as 800 horses if that many are needed. Ace and his brother handle specialty horses of all kinds, falling horses, acting horses, and two of the most famous fighting horses in the business. These two have battled it out in many a wild-horse yarn. "Homes are the biggest hams-in tie world," toys Are, "and it takes a right good actor not to be upstaged by one." Ace Hudkins never was a champion; but he had the reputation of being avoided by more champions than almost any other fighter.

He was known as the "Nebraska Wildcat" during his pro career. Hudkins was a lightweight, then a middleweight; but he fought big men, too. Mickey Walker was about the only champion who didn't steer clear of Ace. They fought in 1928, and Ace came off second best.
