O. W. Boyd of Hodgenville YY' Route 2 puts in a 10-hour day logrolling, she's not trying to help put a political candidate in office. Mrs. Boyd, operator of the Boyd Lumber Company, is no white-collar boss.

She's a shirt-sleeve lumberjack who doesn't mind a little sawdust in her short blond hair. After sawmilling. for five years, she's beginning to think she knows something about the business. When she started lumbering five years ago, Mrs. Boyd didn't know one board from another.

And she has been measuring tags for board feet only two years. Drove Lumber Truck "You don't get all this in school," she said. "You have to learn by experience." Her husband, who used to be "the main spoke in the wheel" at the lumber company, has been in ill health for a year. Before he became ill, Mrs. Boyd drove truckloads of lumber from the sawmill to Louisville three times a day, 50 miles each way.

Now that she has taken over management she gets into Louisville her loads only three times a week. She can do anything at a sawmill except "pull a saw." Her sawyer is Buford Bulling-ton of Scottsville, one of 12 men working under her direction. A 10-hour day is about average for Mrs. Boyd. That includes Saturdays.

"And on Sundays there're always odds and ends to catch up calls to take." Sees Pennies Roll In She likes sawmilling better than housework, though she can sew a fine seam or bake a batch of biscuits if necessary. "When you're sawmilling, you can see the pennies rolling in. Doing housework, you don't." It can be rugged work, says Mrs. Boyd, but at 34 and a husky 184 pounds, she has the strength for it "I get to feeling pretty rugged sometimes," she said, "but I just thank the Lord He gave me the strength to do a man's work." more perfect fit and they're only ov c- I y- Ha I nriii. nllll in I mi mlllir inn nil linn iMiril-r I 1 llil.HHlllllHiik Photo Whether she's snaking logs or driving a tractor, Mrs.

All that glitters may not be pure geld, but whether real or fake it is appearing in the most likely and unlikely places this year. At a recent showing Lilly Dache emphasized the all-gold look by painting the legs of her models with golden glitter. Strangely enough, it didn't look the least bit garish, shimmering under sheer hose. The models' hair was also streaked with gold paint that could be brushed right out to be replaced by purple and green to harmonize with the costume. Gold Shoes To Match Every couturier's collection in recent weeks has included frocks and coats of gold lame and opulent, heavily embroidered and brocaded fabrics from India and the East.

Often models were shod in the shoes of the identical gold cloth of the dress. More "scrambled eggs" than the admiral of the fleet can sport adorn many dresses and accessories. Carrie Munn sprinkled her new clothes liberally with gold braid and golden decoration. This trend carries over into the accessories, too. There are gold-cuffed gloves, wide belts and bracelets of gold, metal, leather, or plastic.

Enormous bibs and collars of intricately contrived gold beads or fringe or festoons are being made. Large cuff links are all-gold or jeweled. Home and table decorations of pure gold or brass will flitter from floor to ceiling. Gold threads are interwoven with wool in raised-effect carpeting. Narrow metal strips are spaced between linoleum tiles to form elaborate patterns and sparkling effects.

Golden chandeliers hang from ceilings of rooms that are papered in gold-embossed papers. Wallpaper manufacturers report an increasing demand and sale of this type of paper. Smart tables are made of gold-lacquered tubing. The old brass bed has returned to high fashion. Window draperies have special painted borders of gold.

And you will be seeing a wide variety of hollow ware andilatware of nontarnishable gold metal for holiday tables. These are to be set on gold-threaded, embroidered, or painted fine linen.
